So it appears testing was last done in 1996! And now it has been pulled out of the woodwork for Caster! F-ing Aussies.
Not true. That was when the last testing at IAAF discretion was done. The protocol has been changed to encompass more sensitivity and now in particular they only go through this process on suspicion through urine testing (not sure whether visual feedback from collectors or actual urine tseting throwing up anomalies or both) or based on a challenge by an athlete/federation etc.
They painted themselves into this corner if someone suddenly 'came out of nowhere'.
On the other hand, if IAAF or ASA tested her before just because they 'wanted to' that may have infringed her rights...i.e. they had 'no just cause', and she may have sued.
And yes, transexuals can compete... after a certain period of time and hormone therapy etc (or if done before puberty) ..so even you (lancelot) can compete with the woman...but you won't have the balls to do so
So physical attributes mean only one thing...they have to analyse everything to see whether she has any male advantages.
But the commenter in the timeonline article is right...do we then test every person to see whether they are more boy than girl...a lot will probably fail that.
And yes... the Kenyan reinstatement does seem a little bit suss almost like IAAF wanted the possibility of her not winning.
cheers
