Little hard to do the testing in confidence now, given the numerous media statements that the IAAF have already made.

It is disgusting that drug cheats, who have made a conscious decision to cheat, are tested in private and only named once a B sample has tested positive. Nobody is suggesting that Semenya has deliberately tried to defraud the other competitors, and her sex is something she was born with and has no control over, yet her name and the suspicion around her sex has been blabbed all over since just before the final.

You don't think that the whole thing could've been handled better?
 
Yes it could have been handled better, however it's out now and of course the usual suspects have jumped on the "race card band-wagon". To silence her critics and to prove everyone wrong they could do damage control by getting an independent lab in to confirm her gender before the IAAF does their test.

Or even better. Accept that there are rules and those rules and procedures are to be adhered to and shut the **** up and accept it.

On a slightly more positive note. If she proves she's a chick this could prove to be a good motivating factor for her in her career, to flip the world a big fat middle finger etc.

she must prove she is a girl? it's fact she is a girl she was born with female parts even the
IAAF has admitted that.
Question is does she have other charisterstics(manly) that would give her an unfair advantage over other females i.e having high testosterone levels.
oh and get of your high horse cause nobody want's to change the rules and regulations concerning the IAAF, have you become an IAAF spokesperson? everybody is just worried as to what all of this is doing to such a young person.
 
I don't know why they are getting so technical with all the tests...

...all they need to do is check for an adam's apple :D

I do. It's a chick who looks like a bloke, sounds like a bloke and obliterated all who raced against her. Some one bitched saying they don't think she qualifies as a chick so the IAAF is checking, which is their right to do. (And includes testosterone levels etc, I'm sure they'll also give her a drug test or 3)

My problem is this. Someones integrity has been questioned and instead of actually "manning up" so to speak and saying yeah go for it I have nothing to hide, we get the whole bollocks situation of the race card etc, etc blah, blah.

What it's doing to this young woman? Are you fricking serious? Read my posts above about why she should maybe quit if she doesn't want to be in the limelight.

Something bigger than this young woman is South Africa's reputation. What if it is found she won't qualify as a woman? Hmmm? No one person is more important than the reputation of S.A. (not that we have a very cool rep at the moment in general life).

Please, South Africa's reputation who is at fault if she does not qualify ASA?
If she does not qualify as a woman she will get to keep her medal end of story
because no wrong was done by ASA or caster. Sure ASA could have dealt with this allot sooner and that needs to be looked at, It's fine if u are in the limelight nothing wrong that but seriously is this the same.

It is actually reasonably complicated if she's found to not be a woman according to the IAAF's definition.

She was allowed to enter as a woman by the IAAF, and nobody is suggesting that she is intentionally trying to deceive the IAAF/her competitors.

Even within the IAAF there is a dispute over the fate of Semenya, should the sex verification process – currently under way – determine the gold medal winner to be male or intersex. Pierre Weiss, the IAAF acting general secretary, has said that Semenya would be forced to hand back her medal, but Davies says the decision would be more complex.

"There's a difference of opinion in the juridical sense. It's not actually that clear cut. If the evidence is overwhelming we have the possibility to change the result, that's absolutely clear.

"In a doping case there's an attempt to defraud so it's very simple to say you're guilty of something. What is she [Semenya] guilty of? This is in the higher realms of legal theory but it's a valid point."

I really think there may be some validity in those comments regarding the invalid stereotype of what a female should look like. I have seen women like this on a daily basis in SA and have not once thought "hmm I wonder if that is a man"

Have you heard her voice????

I heard her speak on the news the other night. Damn, she has a deeper voice than I have.
 
Well if you have any biology knowledge in some cases woman have more men chromosomes than men do , and visa verse that's why gay men was brought to light.
 
Its her running style (stride length, hip movement) that first alerted authorities to question her gender. Her deep voice and 'testosterone cheekbones' don't help matters.

On another note - did anyone hear Julius Malemmer on e-TV news last night calling whites racist for not taking off work to see them arrive home? Wot a chop.
