Hikvision or Dahua?

Pros and cons?

Any good local supplier with warranty?

Oh get them from Vision consulting, they might try to tell you their NVR is better but it's not so don't buy that just the cams,I bought the 2MP SUPER STARLIGHT Cam and it's pretty impressive, full colour night vision.

Get a POE switch and get blue iris software on a decent PC,how many cams do you want to run?Alerts etc are much more powerful on blue iris,I'm testing out milestone also this week will let you know how it compares.

Not planning a DIY solution.
A normal DVR with 720P cameras will suite my application.

I have an installer who suggested I get either.

What about Samsung or Netgear? Have never used them, just seen them online.

Have 8x Hikvision 3mp Full HD Bullets plus NVR for the last couple of years. Could not be happier.

I can't really comment on Dahua but Hikvision have a pretty sizeable market share, consequently, local support is quite good.

Hikvision devices also come with a 3 year warranty, regardless of what spiel some installers spin you.

For a basic system like you've described, either brand would work fine, it's much of a muchness at that level.

Edit: 3 year warranty applies to all models except their plastic range, that's 1 year warranty.
