CCTV Camera System Recommendations?

Mine too, but I'd then need to activate that every night before going to bed - since I don't want emails every time my dog is in the yard or something.

You can set activate times on mine so it only works at night

My installer is advising I go with HIK or Dahua (more on the latter) IP system. I asked for 16ch (starting with 8 cams).

i currently have an 8ch analogue system and theres always something here or the other causing interference. I’ll keep this system though, and just do maintenance every now and then.

Is there any other brand or specific system you guys would recommend? no budget, so go wild if you need to.

thanks

Those brands are good but pricey(although you said no budget so no worries there). So if you're going with those brands make sure you get a camera with their biggest strength (Tiandy cams have this also) and get at least a second or third gen starlight camera system aka darkfighter 2/3, or super starlight which can "see" in much lower lux than starlight which in itself has better full colour low light capabilities than normal cams.

In general these super starlight cams don't come with or need infrared LED's and another advantage with this tech is you won't get as many bugs coming to set off your motion alerts falsely because they're not attracted to the cameras.

And unless they can provide you with an NVR that can actually do ai picture processing I wouldn't bother.Get a POE switch rather something like a 24/48 port will be nice and future proof for your home network.

Blue iris with sentry ai or even deepstack ai if you prefer local processing for privacy would be a much better solution, this will need a nice beefy i7 PC for processing but you did say money was no object so knock yourself out! :D

I still prefer a PC based NVR. No silly limitations and cameras, the software is constantly updated/can be replaced, externally integrations are possible.
A hardware DVR/NVR whatever you want to call it just feels like a smart TV with a dated interface, and there is nothing you can do to update it even though the screen/speakers work perfectly well.

You could always run a hybrid system ,
HIKvision or Dahua are nice if you can afford them and their cams are not cheap .
I run a hybrid system with some HIKvison cams and some IP cams it is just a board i bought from Aliexpress , it gets the job done for me and it has H265+ so it uses half the disk space of H264 .
I run this board because i have some PTZ analogue cams .
My CCTV system is a work in progress , got 13 cams , some 4meg POE that are very good no name brands ,

a dummy on this subject, so please elaborate a little.

how would you build your system (give me a breakdown on your components if you don’t mind).

Well for me on the software side I currently use NX Witness and the recording server lives as a VM on my NAS. Cameras are just cheap POE Reolinks.

Hello Hello!
I recently bought a EZViz C3W Husky. So Far Im really happy with it, but the motion detection is kinda driving me nuts.

is there a better way to set this thing up through another application or something? Ive seen some pretty kickass software running the cams on PCs and that can be set to only record if it detects a Face!
Its triggering the motion on just about anything all the time. Ive set the sensitivity down to 1 Now and the trigger area only to a a few single blocks here and there.

But with Using less Trigger block and a lower sensitivity area im not too sure if its will work or not. Its stil very new as ive only been experimenting since yesterday.

Generally people try to block out trees as wind in the trees will trigger motion.

Face detection, license plate recognition etc will only be an option on much more expensive systems.

Some people wire in passives to the digital input so as to record when the passive detects motion.

My Camera died... Disconnected 3 times yesterday and then just dead. Cant reset or anything...
I did not expect it to last only 2 days

Been looking to get some CCTV given the times and all of that fun stuff.

Was recommended to go with:
Just to start, then get another 2 when I can and slowly upgrade to 8 cameras.

I was also tempted to go the IP Camera -> PoE Switch -> Raspberry pi 4 with MotionEye software, but that full custom route sounds like a pain to setup at a similar cost.

Hey man - did a CCTV installation that used HD over analogue, was cheaper and the quality is brilliant.

What would you guys consider to be the best DIY wireless easy to set up camera system to be? I'm looking for 4 cams, 2 outside, 2 inside. hopefully that can upload/livestream etc

‘Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but wireless cameras just seem like a bad idea to me.

Fully wireless cameras ie battery powered and wi-fi or just wi-fi?

I think mains powered but wifi would work out for my needs.
I have the Ezviz Husky for outdoor, you could use the C6N for indoor and then just use their onboard SD storage or an 8 channel IVR. I've been using the Husky for a while now, very satisfied with it and the moblie app.

Hi guys, I am looking for system for a farm, I don't have power plugs all over the place for the cameras so I would need to run POE system? 8 to 4 camera should be fine its for indoor and out door any suggestions?

I ordered some of the Wyze outdoor cams over the weekend from Geewiz. I am expecting delivery soon so I cant vouch for the just as yet, online has great reviews though. I have the same issues as you with the power, went for these as they don't have to be powered.

May fit your needs. I am also keen to see what others chime in on them here.
