Oh good!! Now more people can join their already overloaded network!!!

I've been on their network since it launched in Cape Town, and speeds have, if anything, improved. I had to use a Vodacom sim for a few days - what a kawk experience. Couldn't even use Skype.

It was fine here until about 10 days ago. Now it sucks noodles.

I'm on the edge of their pink coverage, not close to the dark red and I hardly ever get less than 2 mb/s from them. So far I am very happy with the speed and service.

I was also on the edge of their coverage and things were great. Then they gave us coverage and things turned to S@#t

lol, why do I get the feeling that this "Special" gonna become the new CEll C standard.

We can hope.
But realistically... Who knows?
I'd still like to know more about their network.
They built it themselves - fair enough - but where is the backhaul supply coming from?
VC and MTN have always been moaning that Telkom has been the hold up for the expansion of their networks.

Well..... a speedstick shortage shouldn't be too serious an impediment.

I signed up for a year at 5c/meg. Voda is 20c/meg less discounts. Therefore after 4 months I can afford to walk away from my CellC contract and go back to Voda or MTN. My 4 months ends end March.

Soon my speedstick will be on sale on gumtree and I probably won't be alone.

Does anyone have any suggestions on wireless internet alternatives. Voda / MTN are fine, just a little pricey. Which is the best option for Randburg out of Neotel, Screamer etc?

not sure what you mean....do you still have months on the contract? it's 12 months so the earliest would be ending sept or oct?

Thanks - that was a consideration I thought of.
Seeing that most of their traffic is in the built up city areas, they've got to be making use of metro-ethernet rings or similar.
What about the national backhaul then?
Suppose they've just upgraded their usual transmission stations and then just use them.

How can we as the "man in the street" get Cell C to respond to dead areas in their network.

I am In Richards Bay where we have, in a lot of spots, 21Mbps. But by my home, near our bustling airport, I dont even get Edge. I am literally 100m from a tower, probably the highest one in Richards Bay.

Hey Trevor, where's your rep here man.....we need to have words!

Go via the Trevor's website or Cell C's support email addy's.
There has been rather good feedback from people posting on Trev's site.
