Cell C advert exploits consumer ignorance, says ASA

and the ASA does it again...

The ASA is missing material facts... IMHO

The consumer has a right to know...

Anyways Cell C over did it. LMFAO - You go.... Cell C

Damage was done. All CellC now has to can do is post a picture on social media where the CEO has a yellow gag over his mouth..... With a short URL to some web page of how MTN wants to gag Cellc not to tell consumers what they are doing....

And by siding with MTN they keep consumers ignorant... Well played ASA, well played.

describes almost all commercials in the industry i think

Contrast this with the usual commercial offerings from the MNOs which are a prime example of structuring products and marketing them in a way which takes advantage of the ignorance of consumers. The logic of this ruling implies the latter should also be ruled against....

Cell C will be happy about the successful campaign. It has been running for a few weeks and the ad is already past its sell-by date (almost).
