Cell C boosting network performance and coverage

I hope so. I remember Lars saying that SA would be 97% covered by the end of 2011.

So, I hope AKC keeps his word.

Someone mentioned that Cell C only has EDGE at the moment. Is this true?
I'm in Durban - is that the best speed I can hope for if I moved to them?

They have quite a bit of catching up to do... VC/MTN have around 97% coverage and Cell C were at about 84% the last time I looked. This may have changed over the last 6 months.

But coverage is not everything, QoS is even more important!

I sometimes don't understand the 3G roll-out.
On my drive to Ceres this past weekend from Stellenbosch I had 3G coverage in Tulbach and Wolseley (very small towns) but not Ceres.

I was about to port my number to cell c as I wanted the 2GB data per month for R99 and I thought I could then by airtime at the 99c per second billing, CAN'T do it. I have a smartphone and this would be ideal for me and I guess most other people, once this happens Cell C I will port to you.

Well since Cell C roams on VC it could be argued they have the same coverage and more as VC?

They are using their own physical backhaul for their fast data network, Tulbach and Wolseley are closer on the fibre route most likely and Ceres will be next in line. Prob best to check all the dark fibre routes to get a better idea.
