I agree with you. He also did not want a lower MTR, but now when he is at CellC, he suddenly supports it? He needs to grow CellC, so they are competing on price, but what will happen if they grow too big? You think they will still compete on price?

Why anyone allowed the sale of an asset like Vodacom [to foreigners] is a mystery. Government is right to be circumspect.

You can't compare MTR set up in the nineties when the mobile market was thought to only be for a few business users more comparable to the satellite phone market of today and give the guy crap. He states the market has changed, the numbers dictate a change, in fact he reckons the MTR should be 25c or less, but you aren't happy with that??

You also mention you wouldn't trust him with your money, have you seen VCs share prices since they started and under his watch? You are telling me you think that would have been a bad investment? Really? Don't get me wrong, as a consumer I am pissed that prices have been high for so long, but give the guy credit where it is due.

and did you not read the part about market size when the initial MTRs were set? What would have motivated him to reduce revenue for VC? How long do you think he would have stayed CEO if he had pushed to heavily reduce the MTR back at VC? It was a duopoly, the board would have sacked him.

Please understand I am not happy about it, but really the blame lies with the DoC and ICASA on that one, they set up an anti-competitive environment and then never bothered to make sure rates were set at prices to stimulate the economy, rather to focus on profit max. Note Gov shares (indirectly and by politicians) would have been affected.
