Cell C clarifies employee suicide

Yep, it's your opinion and I disagree with you.

Yes it is a selfish act and yes his family are probably the net losers in this. However, we have no idea of his state of mind, his depression and what ultimately drove him to take his life. Depression is an incredibly hostile and nasty thing. It begins slowly with something small and innocuous, but unless you sort it out and work through it, it slowly eats away at you and becomes a massive thing in the mind.

Ultimately it numbs you to the consequences of your actions. For some they just cannot talk to anyone about their state of mind and if those people close do not pick up the warning signs (and it isn't always possible), thoughts of ending it all start to grip/control the mind. Suicide becomes the only way out from that dark place.

Also, we are all different and we all handle the stresses that come across our paths differently. This poor soul was ultimately lost to all except the only way he new how to end it all. Suicide. :cry:

Condolences to the family. May they find strength to get through this dark time in their lives.

That's my opinion and I too am sticking with this :(

Chances are that this news was just the final straw. There has to have been a lot more in the man's life to push him over the edge.

People commit suicide all the time. He might have heard his girlfriend was cheating on him, or he discovered he had HIV. Don't jump to conclusions.

Honestly, if this guy committed sewage pipe because of an sms and email about possible retrenchment then he had SERIOUS issues.

I don't see how anyone can blame Cell C over this.

Well I think that his could do more damage to cellc than the savings they were trying to make?
lets say 150 * 500k annual(being very generous) is a saving of 70mil odd...
they could loose that in a month or so...

how can this cause them to lose 70mil in a month? - I realise many people are stupid, but surely not THAT stupid and naive to cancel their contracts or not consider CellC over this???
 
people talking about cutting ack salary are out of touch with reality. Top CEOs anywhere in the world get top dollars or they get headhunted. Cell c have gone a route of getting a proven CEO with a track record in the industry. Pay peanuts get monkeys.
 
It's a vicious circle - in order to draw in more customers, they needed to cut the cost of their data bundle and call cost offerings. In order to do this and still break even, they needed to trim down on unnecessary spending, and cut input costs.

Clearly they had too many staff and needed to retrench. This happens all the time. To blame Cell C for a suicide is daft.
The next thing we will hear is that the unions will DEMAND that retrenchments be abolished......what would happen next is companies will go bust left right and centre.

Getting retrenched is like breaking up with your girlfriend. Get over it and get a new one.
 
The stupidity in this thread is shocking. How about we all shut up and wait for more information instead of making ridiculous accusations based on wild assumptions.

He definitely WAS retrenched. He and his sub division.

Lol I didn't know he had a physical injury (besides being dead).

You can't blame cell c for this. He wasn't the only one who got retrenched.

He was obviously unstable, what kind of tard kills himself because he gets fired.

Its like when people blame video games for school shootings. Makes me lol.
