Cell C expands 21Mbps HSPA+ coverage to George

George!!!!! Oh yes yes! In your face JHB!! In your face! Oh yeaaaaah!! George baby... ooops damm... i think i just pee'd a little!

SO lets say they get 50 000 users through the country and then switch on Gauteng and suddenly get 100 000 users. Total network failure????

I have my doubts on that statement ID_10_T .... uhm yaaah hey, anyways where was I??

WELL Done CELLc :)

We should get a poll for those who are in the area and want to get the packages???

Also has their been any videos or pictures of launches thus far, i want to see videos of them launching or atleast pics.

Somebody please :/

Wonder if they going to advertise it with 4Gs :)

I saw on Twitter their account has started calling it their "HSPA+ 900" network. I think they got the ASA message load and clear...

The fact that VC and MTN haven't responded to Cell C's offer yet worries me a little. What do they know that we don't? Or are they waiting for the JHB launch before they respond?

Cell C’s new network is the most advanced on the African continent,” Cell C said in a press statement.
Did ASA not tell Cell-C they cannot make these "most advanced" network claims?

Next will be Brits. I think they know they do not have all the infrastructure at the moment. That is why they don't want to come to Gauteng as yet. It's a good strategy, me thinks. They are still expanding the infrastructure so that when they come to the real deal (GP), they are all prepared. I'll give them 3 months to settle.

I activated my Telkom landline (not yet adsl), but I think I'll wait 3 months or so and pay that R1.5k once off and I'm connected the whole year.

Selling data at below cost is not a sustainable business model. The very dangerous thing Cell-C did here (for themselves), is to go into the market at such low prices. While it will buy them market share, how do they turn this setup into profitability?

At the end of the day they will have to start making money somewhere. Where will that be? Not from data, especially if you have a brand new multi-billion rand network to pay off.

Cell-C is making the very same mistake Neotel did. Come into the market with below-cost pricing and then hoping for a miracle to turn you profitable.

Reality is that if you sell below cost, you dig yourself deeper into the hole with every subscriber you sign up.

@Twocents1000

Surely they can't be that ignorant? They must have a plan. Lars Reischeldt looks like he knows what he's doing. At least I hope he does.

69 people.
Dont be silly the garden route is one of the biggest tourist destinations in SA. George has the second largest population in the Western Cape, the largest being Cape town of cause. Its also the commercial hub of the Garden Route.

Good strategy imho, they're getting their ducks in a row.
