so i go to checkers yesterday and at the checkout, this lady gives me a gospel prepaid sim for free.
i asked her what the story with rica is and she tells me that it's not for rica, it's for cell-c.
so clearly that convo wasn't going anywhere...

i thought you had to do rica on all new sims prior to purchasing them...
am i mistaken, or is checkers at fault here?
 
I got a similar promo story but a free vodacom sim... also no knowledge about RICA.
 
RICA is part of the activation process. So you can go and buy 10'000 SIMs without your ID but you cannot activate them till they are RICA'd.
 
ah. i see... they sent me an sms telling me to rica it.
crikey, i've got full signal.
time to move back to vc.
 
Don't know if you knew this already but you can use the Vodacom network on Cellc.

You probably gona be spammed with 'Come towards Christ' mumbo jumbo if you keep using that sim.
