Sorry if this is in the wrong area...

Has anyone else noticed an influx in dropped calls and failed call attempts on Cell-C?

I used to have this problem on 8.ta and as a result of them trying to convince me that my perfectly good phone was faulty, I proved them wrong by porting to Cell-C and the problem went away.

Now it's back and I have even acquired a new phone since.

Cell-C insist I have call barring enabled, and no matter how many times I type #330*1234# [DIAL] [RESTART PHONE] they still insist that this is the problem. What I don't understand is that it's intermittent. Very annoying.

Maybe slightly off topic (sorta) but while at work last night, at about 1am, my officer was working on her Cell C dongle trying to check her e-mails and it was full signal strength YET everything was horribly slow!
I am in a room next to her (Vodacom) doing the same thing and my speeds were blitz.
I asked her is this normal and she said no, it used to be very fast but lately has been horribly slow.

Cell C  sort ya shyte out please!

yep, been also getting issues with my Cell-C data... sometimes it timesout loading google.co.za

Maybe the Cell C rep who is here on MyBB can give us some info on why customers are telling us "Cell-C going down the tube"

For a while a thought Cell C is getting their act together and was about to gain some Market Share, but these days there are as many Cell C "bad service" complaints as for the other Mobile SP's.

What up Cell C?:erm:

If this thread is not in the right section, can one of the mods please move it to somewhere the Cell C rep can see it?:)

Last week I ported 2 numbers (the Mrs and mine) from cell c to 8ta and convinced 2 other people to do the same.
I have never ever been this happy ! I can now make and receive calls without jumping around the office trying to find a proper reception.

Good Day

People have done so. Your responses to their queries would be useful, especially to those of us about to pull the trigger on a port from emptyN to Cell C

Hi schurtek

I would like to have our network team investigate this issue. Please PM me your contact details.

Cell C data service has imploded everywhere.

I have users in East London, Tzaneen, Joburg (Illovo), nothing works.

Have switched everyone onto other networks.

The network has been really bad for the last couple of months.

I am on Virgin (Cell-C) and all the call centre keeps saying is to set my phone to only use the Vodacom network.
Even this does not work.

I have calls logged with them going back to August last year for bad signal in Bryanston, Randburg and Rosebank but nothing ever get done.
I cant wait to move away from Cell-Cs horrible network to MTN. I have this on my tablet and the signal is always better than my phone. To prove that it is not a hardware issue I swopped the sims and my phone works perfectly on the MTN sim.

I bought that 3GB (365 days) promotion last year in August for simple stuff like whatsapp, emails, and browsing. I moved to Soweto last November and the network is horrible. I can't use it after hours. If I go home to Limpopo, there is no network at all in my area.

So decided to go for Vodacom. I still have about 600MB remaining on that CellC bundle, but can hardly use it.

I have an ipad with cell c and my htc with Vodacom. I'll have them side by side for a few hours a day and at various client sites in jhb and I'm pretty sure you can all guess which has the better reception.

I'd probably say at least half the time, my cell c has little to no connectivity where's as Vodacom is flying.

True, I pay a lot more a month for my Vodacom subscription but it works so for me it's money well spent.

I did a speedtest for a friend on Vodacom on an iPhone 4, it made 6.2Mbs DL! The phone is only measured upto 7.2Mbs.
I had 17Mbs DL on my iPhone 5 on 3G.

I ported just over 2 years ago to Cell C. Sure they have good deals, but I'll be porting back to MTN. My internet hardly works and I had enough of dropped calls and trying to find the best spot to have a decent conversation. There are some areas that have excellent Cell C coverage, but on the whole it's not a good experience for me. So, goodbye Cell C.

Funny, that's my experience with MTN at home and at work in sandton. ***ol internet in my building. Vodacom, constant dropped calls at home.
So I think they're all equally terrible, so I'm gonna go with the cheapest one.

Mine has been piss poor over the past few months (in Cape Town). A friend and I even traded landline numbers the other day as we're both on Cell C and can never manage a phone-call between us. I'll be sad to do it but I may well port to vodacom in the next few months.

I cringe every time I see the ads on TV going on about "facts".... bleh :banghead:

A friend of my dad's is on Cell C and getting failed call attempts when calling his Vodacom number. Quite annoying, because he keeps asking me to test call his cell and then it works no problem because I'm also on Vodacom.
