Cell-C / IS "fixed" LTE

I am connected in CPT now.

Good stuff. How's isn't going for you so far?

Just want to note that this is the fifth straight day since my order and I haven't heard a peep from Axxess... My emails have gone unanswered and the consultants can't give me a straight answer. If this wasn't a widely known company, I'd worry that I'm being scammed.

It works great when it connects lol

Hopefully issues is sorted now, will do some more testing at home.

Getting around 20mps, which is fine for my use.

My speeds are all over the place, the positioning of the router seems so important a couple mm's can reduce my speed by over 10Mbps. had a 20Mbps spot but can't seem to find it again.

It's still okay tho, anything over 10Mbps is good for me. On the bright side I saw Cell C guys in my area and when I approached them to asked them what they were doing they said they were scouting the area for a good place to put a new tower. So things might get betting in the next few months.

Guys, do me a favour, have your'll checked Cell C's website for fixed LTE coverage because as I posted a few posts backs whereby the ISP's website's are showing coverage but when checking Cell C's it's says there isn't.

I could be wrong but it's a possibility why some people are having issues

On the coverage map I have LTE-A and Fixed LTE. Also I have another cell c contract in a mifi router and that never gives me any problems with speed or disconnections or anything.

Got my Axxess Cell C Fixed LTE package earlier this week, chose the B618 router, but Im battling to even get 10 Mbps on a download yet upload speed is flying at 25 Mbps. Router has full 5 bars reception. My cellphone is also on Cell C, and a speedtest on it obtains between 70 and 100 Mbps on download and 25 Mbps upload, so reception is definitely not the issue.

Having the exact same problem, router speeds are really low about 6-9Mbps and upload about 15-25Mbps also the internet seems quite slow. When using my phone which is also on Cell c it seems fast enough and I have no issues there.

Move the router around, remember the tower is different compared to the one your phone is connecting to.

Will give that a try, thanks. I wanted to put my cellphone SIM into the router, just to eliminate any config but now that I know they connecting to different towers that wont eliminate anything

Has anybody noticed the coverage map on CellC's website is not the same as the one on Axxess'?
https://www.cellc.co.za/cellc/lte-home-coverage-map

vs
https://www.axxess.co.za/mobile/cellc

Full coverage on Axxess's map vs none on CellC's. If I choose "LTE-A" and not "Fixed-LTE" I get the same map/coverage as on Acxess' website.

So since Axxess' website showed full coverage I've ordered the B315 router but when it eventually arrived I got ZERO signal at home. Now I've been battling for a week with their support and it's been pretty poor to say the least.

The last message I eventually got out of them was:
Hi,

This is in response to ticket: xx

the service that we offer through Cell C is not LTE-A, but Fixed LTE.

the address xxx is not within a covered area for Fixed LTE

Regards,
Jared

Kinda what I've been saying along...but they keep ignoring my requests for a refund and to come fetch their router.

Anybody else experiencing these kind of issues with them?

Yes, we are aware, same thing with Mweb, says we have coverage but Cell C says we don't.

The router should arrive this week so I can test who's right

SO i guess this answers the question i was going to ask. parents stay in the vaal, far from an exchange so adsl is crap. barely keeps to 2mb. was planning on getting cellc package as there is some lte coverage. but did a test and hsdpa yields around 6mb which is perfect. but it looks like these fixed lte only work on fixed lte towers.

What makes it different though? Surely it would make more business sense to offer the service on 3g, normal lte and lte-a unless i'm a clueless chop.

Tried moving the router around, with no improvement :erm:

Signal strength seems good, 5 bars, with the following reported values:

RSRQ: -5dB
RSRP: -74dBm
SINR: 27dB

I just performed a tracert to "www.google.co.za", with interesting results. The first is from the Axxess / Cell C Fixed LTE, and the second is my Telkom LTE solution which is coming to an end at the end of the month, which I'm starting to regret.
