Cell-C / IS "fixed" LTE

Hi Cell_C

So how does it work :

CELL C LTE-A 100GB
Monthly Fee
R 1007.77

Promotion fee
R 856.45

Data-in-Bundle Rate (MB)
R 0.01

Inclusive Monthly Anytime Data
100 GB

-----

are these month to month contracts? or 12month or 24month minimum

Do we pay the promotion fee or the monthly fee or how long is the promotion fee at play?

do you only get 100gb of data (or is there also extra 100gb or more midnight data ?)

What pings could I be expecting to gaming servers via LTE-A ?

Is the main hub in CPT or JHB. or do is there a node in CPT and JHB (cpt users redirect from cpt to cpt servers etc. not going all the way to jhb back to CPT. round robbin)

like league of legends or CSGO pings.. (anyone)

@Napalm do you have LTE-A/fixed LTE in your area?? or over your house!

Think I do have LTE-A signal (I gots the B618 modem)

I normally play on EU League of legends server which is Netherlands. I think

A relative got the 100gig LTE but with 5mb download speeds. Any advice?

Just got my 50GB fixed cell C LTE from axxess. Using it in a ZTE MF831 USB modem with 4bars / -90dBm signal in PTA east. Got 25mbps up and 17.5mbps down (mid day speed test to randburg SAIX server). Pretty happy. I don't think this USB modem goes must faster than 30mbps on its internal antennas anyway.

Axxess has been getting some flac on the forums lately. My experience has been mostly positive:
+ ordered on sunday, got the sim today (thursday)
- uploaded rica documents, but they couldn't open the pdf from tshwane. they didn't follow up, I phoned in (on tuesday) regarding progress and got told to upload new rica docs using the online support system
+ call centre answered calls promptly, friendly, sorted issues quickly
+ uploaded new rica docs using support ticket, gots sorted within few hours, and got sms feedback
- inserted sim, didn't work right way
+ call centre advised to leave modem on for up to 24hrs (successfully connected in about 3 hrs)
+ call centre advised on the use of the correct APN and setup of modem

They could probably save their agents some time and just add a welcome letter with instructions with the sim delivery package. But overall good service.

Did you order sim only? if so what is the price? if not did you end up paying once off for the router, since there are other providers who provide it free?

'm also interested in this deal but been holding back because of all the negative posts regarding Axxess recently.

Question time:
- Can you monitor your data usage via their app and website?
- How stable is the wifi connection when multiple devices are connected?

What about getting the service through another ISP?

Sim only for R349. Had a LTE modem already. Also got the first month data for free with free activation and delivery. Using this as a stop-gap until fibre goes live in my neighborhood.

I was quite surprised to learn how many ISP's actually offer cell c's fixed lte, all basically at the same price. The routers / "free stuff" and support levels are the only differentiators between the different ISP's.

Some ISPs that I looked at (-cons +pros):
Axxess +first month free on sim only (make sure you sign up early in the month) -R1799 for B315 -R2499 for B618
MWeb +free B315 (after 12 months or pro-rata use of R1629)
Adept - R1600 tplink router - R199 fee + external antenna installation for a fee
ignite + free B315 or R999 B618 (R999 buy back if cancel before 6 months)
webafrica +R250/R500 credit to your account on sim-only -R209 fee -R1999 for B315 on 50GB +free B315 on 100/200GB (free to use, no minimum period listed, return on cancel)
crystalweb -coming soon

I'm quite happy with the service so far but haven't stress tested it yet. I would recommend you test your cell c LTE reception at your house first using a prepaid cell c sim card - none of the ISPs can do anything about a congested tower.

- Can you monitor your data usage via their app and website?
I haven't tried the Axxess app, but bookmarked the web link to view usage. Works 100% from phone.

- How stable is the wifi connection when multiple devices are connected?
There are a lot of variables. You can get congestion at several points (1) wifi signal & interference (2) router cpu and memory (3) lte signal (4) upstream internet. These can affect a single user and would be even worse for multiple users. That said, if you get +20mbps with a decent router you should be okay as long as everyone isn't trying to stream HD netflix simultaneously (even though in theory 4 people should be able to).

How's the speed on the cell c fixed LTE compared to the 200gb 365 days bundle ?

Hi. Can someone please confirm the outgoing smtp settings for cell c fixed lte which I believe is running through IS.

Been trying to follow up the thread, but from what I see if I have tested coverage using a prepaid sim card, essentially fixed LTE should perform the same?

So after checking again, i see the coverage maps have been updated since my last check for Sasolburg where my folks stay.
I think I've asked this question before but i still don't know the answer.

*What is the difference between lte/lte-a AND fixed LTE. When looking at coverage maps fixed lte covers a smaller area but is it not running on the same signal/frequency/tower as the normal lte/lte-a ??
Check the below, Green is Fixed LTE, Purple is LTE-A, why does fixed not cover the full purple area, is it just to ensure good signal strength by limiting how far away from the tower Fixed LTE is allowed to be?

This is what i'm trying to figure out, looking at the coverage map you are incorrect. Since Fixed lte covers a smaller area that normal lte. However if its the same signal i don't know why its like that.
