CELL C LTE in pretoria [confirmed]

Has anyone picked up CellC LTE in pretoria, or known when it might be up and running?

Media reports seemed to indicate pretoria is up next, but the current coverage map is limited to the JHB region.

Pfft, I wouldn't hold my breath. If their 3G network is so terrible, can't imagine LTE being any better since they using the same backhaul.

Hi Makemydayplz,

That has not been communicated yet. We will announce to the public once the roll out dates are communicated.

Why hasnt Cell C fixed their EDGE or 3G Network before rolling out 3G?
Argh, this requires a comment. Many Cell C problems where caused by their roaming partner. It was highlighted before that Vodacom towers allowed Cell C SIM to register in 3G mode, while they should't do it, as at the higher network layer all traffic was blocked. It was sabotaging Cell C network, as strong Vodacom tower could bring entire area to the "strong signal, no throughput" syndrome - read past messages on this board. Now this problem should be eliminated, as roaming agreement allows 2G and 3G connection. Cell C LTE network shouldn't be subject to the same problem, as it is a completely different technology. Cell C SIM will be not able to register to Vodacom tower in LTE mode.

My experience with Cell C has only been positive. Good value for money. My SO is on contract with them and I (on vodacom) never struggle to reach her or experience significantly more dropped calls than on any other network. As for internet speeds, I was using Cell C's Giga 200 bundle in 2014 as my primary internet connectivity in PTA and got between 5 and 10mbps. Then went to TM LTE this year with a 60+60GB bundle (got 33mbps). TM dropped the 60+60GB deal and I'll be happy to switch back to Cell C once their LTE is running.

Good news. I'm picking up Cell C LTE in Pretoria near lynnwood manor area (at work).

I'm getting 1 bar of signal and yet speedtest.net rated my D/L speed 12mbps compared to 6mbps on HSPA+.

Ps. At home I'm getting 21mbps on Cell C HSPA+ alone... unfortunately no LTE reception there yet :(

128K SIM is only a minimum requirement for LTE. Settings is stored on their servers. They don't know how to provission SIM correctly. See this thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/773020-100GB-R100-SIM-not-working

How does the sim ever get sorted??.
I got no time to go stand in a line to sort out a problem that shouldn't even be there in the first place.
Even logged in a request, they called the Cell C number which i actually got as a test sim....so yeah I did test their network

Full coverage
- NO ACCESS TO LTE (Coverage does pick up under manual search)
- 3G (Just managed to hit 1mb in speed test)

IN SHORT : Nothing has changed with Cell C

You need SIM swap or enable for LTE, I am sure. Had the same problem. Here are examples of prepaid 128K Power SIM:

- Black mini-SIM size with no cut - a Wooosh HSPA+ era, no USIM type, no LTE possible, don't even call customer centre, forget it
- Black mini-SIM with a cut for micro size - maybe, call customer centre to enable it
- Blue mini-SIM with cuts for micro and nano size - yes, you have the right SIM which can be LTE enabled

I got a black usim with micro-only cut-out on a 100GB giga deal (special part of LTE launch ). Connected to LTE out-of-the-box.
