Cell C mobile broadband plans and pricing

This sounds awesome, but...

Will the real speeds be any good? Will the coverage be any good?
I left Cell C years ago at the end of a contract due to hopelessly slow internet.

Now I wonder what their data bundles will be like, if they offer any? Cheaper since they don't come with a modem? That might make me consider Cell C again but if my experience with coverage and internet is bad again I'll be seriously pissed.
I don't want a modem or any contract crap again, I just want data bundles like what Vodacom has but with reasonable pricing.
 
Cell C have been connecting DFA fibre to a bunch of their basestations - including the one on the roof of our building. I dont know if this is why they can offer cheap bandwidth , but I wouldn't like to be an ISP with a gazillion towers connected to Telkom backhaul right about now :P *cough* vodacom mtn *cough*

Keen for that. Let's make 3G a viable alternative vs ADSL if usage is <10GB/month. Then Telkom will really kark off. Will make a packet for MNO's too :)

That in turn might make Telkom up all line speeds to compete vs ~7-21Mbps and will hopefully make high end/use accounts more affordable too. Everybody wins :D

+1 This is going to do wonders for the adsl line speed/price issue. Telkom will have to do something.

Neotel was supposed to be the catalyst, but it seems like mobile will be.

I see the expectation building already.

Perhaps this leak was an elaborate scheme by MTN and/or Vodacom to drum up expectations so that everyone would be angry with the CellC "lie" when the prices don't match up.

When i was still with Vodascum i was begging for a 5gb cap at a reasonable price.
Ok so it isnt prepaid yet, but for those who do not access to DSL[Or hate Neofail+Telkom] or refuse to pay for the voice line portion of your ASDL, this deal is damn good.

This deal is better than ADSL if you only use a few GBs a month. I mean when you break the price down over 12 months for the 7.2mbps option it is less that the damn ADSL 384kbps + phone line rental alone without data.
 
Guy for those who have a working knowledge of the technical aspect of the last mile. How does the new and coming generation of wireless tech (lte and what cellc is using) stack up against adsl1/2 as a last mile delivery method. Obviously latency is getting better all the time, but how much bandwidth can realistically be delivered if both are being strained by an equal amount of high usage?

Is wireless getting to a point where 50gigs+ could be viable, or is it still only suitable for 5 gigs or less per user?

This all assuming they are both being fed with equal backhaul.

Less than the year ago a ISP (Please stand up) said that R29 gig on ASDL is not sustainable. Now we are having this on 21Mbps wireless with no Telkom rental and modem included. Well done Cell C for coming from behind and running way ahead - Vodacom and MTN must be sh...tting themselves now

Souns good......

So you pay them the R999 or R1999 and then live happy for a year.........??

OR

After a month there is problems and you have no lever to get the value for your money you expeted, they have your money?? and you do not have the product yet. The product they are selling is highly perishable.... A month that pass without good (expected) service is gone forever.

Cell C does not have a track record that leaves me at ease to pay them for anything, upfront .......
