Cell C MyTools end-date announced

One of the reasons I was reluctant in porting to 8ta,guess no reason to stay on then, since I'm but a minority at Cell C.BYE!!!

P.S.Please fix your network.

Its such a pity, because it was incredibly useful. The feature that simply sent "Private number" callers to voicemail with a friendly message saying "This subscriber does not accept calls from blocked or private numbers". I wonder why they are abandoning it.

Bummer... Yes, it was useful. It is already there, why not just keep it? The upkeep and costs to keep it going should be minnimul.

I only realised about 2 weeks ago that I could also check my incoming SMS's on there. I was so happy I found that because I cannot switch on roaming on Prepaid, and am going to the US for 6 months, so was going to use the MyTools to check my bank one time pins for internet banking. Now I'm screwed :( ... I phoned Cell C, and they said there will be no way for me to check my sms's while I'm there.

A crappy work around I will have to do now is maybe hook up my old HTC Magic to power, put the sim in there, and use an Android App to auto forward SMS's to my email address. That's crap though, because if the phone dies or something ... again, I'm screwed :(

SMS roaming?

The voicemail to email thing has helped me so many times when I am overseas.

I got Verified by Visa SMSes on my CellC while roaming in EU. Why not US?

I can't switch on roaming because I'm on prepaid. According to Cell C, I can't have any form of roaming on prepaid. And I'm not going to take out a contract.

That's too bad. I really think it had great potential ... but development just stopped.

What I really, really, really wanted is a App on my phone which I can use to listen to voice-mail because I frekkin HATE calling 144 and having to listen to 10 voice-mails to get to the one I want. MyTools had all the components... they just had to take it to the next level.

It would be cool if they could provide people with some kind of API....

This was THE reason I stayed with Cell C so long.
It really was a very useful service. Gonna miss it :(

Those with contacts loaded on MyTools remember to export your contacts before the service ends!
