Finally CellC appears to have realised that cellular broadband is not a fad [especially in SA where Telkodemonopolies is the pathetic fixed line Caster-Rooster that it thinks it is].

I think we will be pleasantly surprised. Despite their size, Cell C is the only player actually attempting to shake up the market. Their size and the timing of their arrival meant they could be bullied out of the big markets, and the fact that they have had to rent from the other two hasn't helped. Hopefully this investment pays off big time for them. The competition commission is going to have it's work cut out IMO - the bullies are going to have to be monitored closely. Hopefully this has a big spinoff for virgin too. I would seriously love to see those two cut MTN and Vodacom down to size... sounds impossible? Well time will tell and hopefully the general public vote with their feet.

There is a difference between complaining and representing the current reality of a situation. I'll wager that a lot of people posting in this thread have had past dealings with Cell C. The reality is unfortunately that at the moment Cell C sucks - hence our scepticism.
If they improve I'm sure all of us will be willing to give credit where credit is due but for the time being at least a lot of us will stick with the 'IBIWISI' mantra.

I have current experience with Cell c and although I don't use them as my broadband provider of choice, I sure do use their phone service as they are less of a ripoff than the others. Mobile operators are becoming bland again - this will throw the cat amongst the pigeons if they can get it right. Their timing may be on their side with current costs in the market dropping while the others invested heavily when costs were higher.

Yes dude please explain the current situation please.....but wait do that if there was no cellc....youd still be paying prime for your minutes....complain and representing is the same, just depends on how you define it.
I always say that cellphone providers are like banks, cars, ISP's, wifes(no offense), etc...they all have problems....at least there are many of them, so you can swap when you want to. Not so true if there were only 2 telecoms.

Firstly, I'm still paying prime for my minutes. Cell C didn't introduce major competition - our cellphone contracts are still very expensive. Luckily, the government has finally started to get their act together and the threats seem to be slowly leading somewhere. Cell C has nothing to do with this.
Secondly, if I still was with Cell C my situation would be the following: frequent dropped calls, double billing with no refunds or credit, refusing to fix or replace a phone under warranty due to water damage (the phone was nowhere near water), the inability to access my voicemails for more than a year even after numerous calls and reference numbers, ignoring my e-mails regarding queries and complaints. The list goes on. I put up with their nonsense for years and finally came to my senses earlier this year. Vodacom has been heaven compared to Cell C. Sorry if I'm not ready to hail them as the messiahs of mobile broadband just yet.
