Cell C promotes Android

May inspire Cell C network support some....

Knowing South Africa, most people will only get Android when the rest of the world are alredy onto something bigger and better

1. Any package sale (regardless of device) will give you a customer.
2. Indeed. So Android offers greater revenues than..?
3. Any device offers basic voice and SMS services.
4. This is the obvious conclusion to work backwards from, yes.

Cell-C are creating an awareness and a brand association with Android.

Android is most activated smartphone OS - it is being activated at the rate +550,000 per day
Cell-C have see the Android trend here in ZA, and are associating their whoosh network with Android.

Android tablets and Android Phones both work best with fast cell networks - which coincidentally is what Cell-C Whoosh, H-Strong is advertising.

They want to ride the Android wave by creating awareness - and get thus get more customers.

What's in it for Cell-C:
> Additional customers
> Additional data revenues
> Additional voice minutes/sms
> Additional Profit

Plus with no firewall installed or installable on a large number of Android phones, its easy for networks to go though your private data stored on your phone and still get you to pay for the data.

You will need to install a app/service to share the data in order for the ISP to get access to it. Unless they resort to installing their own software on the phones to do this on purpose or actively hacking the device your argument is moot, and applicable to any smartphone OS

Hi
I am looking for a fundi/capable/savy person in the windy city of Port Elizabeth to please load Android onto my HTC HD2.

Maybe someone who is au fait with this. I would like to try this and if not satsfied revert to the stock WM6.5.
I am willing to compensate for time and effort.

Maybe copy me with PM please..?

I can point you to a very simple step by step to get MIUI onto the device http://en.miui.com/extra.php?mod=article/view&aid=52&mobile=no

+1

More data usage, even if due to Virus => More revenue for Cell-C ;)
(I won't mention the data usage issue with WP7)

I can't remember if my HTC Desire 2.1 had a GUI to control the Linux iptables firewall?
I replaced Sense sometime back with CyanogenMod which includes "Phone Goggles"
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/features/phone-goggles
You can also install DroidWall from the market as a GUI to iptables on rooted Android phones.

I'm glad that cellular data has dropped to R83 for 2GB (Cell C R999/12).
Makes it affordable for Tablets and SmartPhones.

Pity about their limited Android phone selection. They need to bump it up.

More Android!

Go CellC! You are free to punt Android over ios just as apple are free to shirk flash siding with untested, future, not yet standardized, doesn't quite work the same on every browser, need to download a 70 mb browser, html 5 or something. As long as CellC don't go around suing everyone when the competition gets too hot. cough samsung cough. I am sorry but I will dig until i get rid of the rot that is in apple. How did it go from just cool to power hungry mutant ninja killer turtle! Any chance I get I will say something bad about you! Oops well done CellC! I have still liking my 4gs and my galaxy s thank-you!.

Cell C is pushing Android because of its success and for the future of their business.

They pushed Blackberry enough over the past few years but Blackberry is on its way out globally.

The thread has been noted and questions have been forwarded to Cell C.

This could get interesting. *grins*

Here's hoping... ;-)

It might also be noted that the problem is not unique to Android as the same issues exist on iPhone and push.
