Cell C says it will be first with 21 Mbps HSPA+

dunno about you guys but i don't crave faster and faster speed all the time. okay i sepose it will make the need for much more and cheaper bandwidth/data apparent to the capitalists, but progress in that aspect has always been too slow.
 
Gr8 news, this reminds me of the hype about new bandwidth products last year, now we'd focussing on speed well the sooner u complete the better I'd lyk to test sooner than l8r
 
They are going to have to be cheaper than the rest to get some decent market share or risk being like Telkom in the mobile space. The existing guys have massive coverage with their HSDPA networks. You have to have coverage and be cheaper. If everyone is honest nobody really needs 21 mb/s at R289 per gig....

Affordable wireless? See they keep increasing the speeds as a smoke screen to keep the bandwidth pricing high.

Everyone is like WOW soooooooooooooooo fast and forget about the price you pay to use the super duper fastest internet.

I mean look how excited people are at the speed increase, you would swear we have 50/60gb to burn a month. You would not say we are paying 120+ rand for a gb in this thread. Fast speed WOW :D.

even if they DO succeed, they better make Bandwidth cheaper, as I wouldn't want to go on youtube, click on a video and after 20 seconds see that it is crap, but before closing the page I then notice it has already downloaded the whole video and I have wasted 150MB of my cap - not good at all, then i would rather prefer my 3.6mb/s so I can better manage my bandwidth instead of it running wild.

don't give me a Rocket car that can go from 1-100 in 1.2 seconds but can only drive for 2km before running out of fuel - give me a Uno that takes 20 seconds but can at least get me to durban in 1 tank of petrol.

are you taking notes CellC ? your rocket car may go faster than Vodacom's Uno, but it's gonna be a WORSE service if the prices are as expensive.
 
Hmm, am I the only one recalling the hype over the 3rd Cell network operator, and the 2nd fixed line operator, which didn't really bring a lot to the table to fight the big boys?

Even if it have to be throttled... wouldn't care - as long as it's cheaper and faster than 128k ISDN...
 
Someone tell them to invest in higher caps / lower per gig charge and they will cream the market.
 
I heard it is coming in April. Was in a Cellc shop asking about smart phones and the guys said they have over 900 towers and service will be launched in April. I am not sure if its true.

Really don't see that happening :erm:

The network still has to be rolled out - expect it sometime next year at the earliest.
