Cell C says it will be first with 21 Mbps HSPA+

here's my 2c worth if it makes any difference.

Lets be reasonable guys.

Cell-C is investing in a Brand New 3G network almost R5 Billion.

who will pay that loan back.

Their Data prices will not be reduced too much. Maybe OOB rates drop to 50c per meg or something.

The real price droppers are going to be telkom & Neotel. They will set the ball rolling.

Neotel & Telkom are operating on a build - make money - reinvest - make money - Re-invest

So they most likely will have the leverage to drop prices.

MTN & Vodacom if they could help it they would increase prices.

So Please don't get excited to soon and build hypes over the wrong companies.

Rather Build your hypes on the Iburst's - Telkoms - Neotels - ISP's

They are the ones who will drop prices first.

Go on use these guys.

Build them up so they may compete properly.

Boycott - MTN - VodaCom - Cell-C in the Data Space and watch prices fall.

Good luck to them but at SA prices per GB it doesn't make too much sense going to speeds of 21MB/s. Even if they offer it at about R40 a GB you could easily do 7-8GB and hour and who's going to pay R300 an hour for the net?
 
Dude that 5 billion you speak of is nothing compared to what mtn actually make in terms of profit, now if you had said 50 or 100 billion then maybe but 5 billion?
 
I never thought I'd see the day when Cell C was the company innovating.
Way to go Cell C, I can't wait to see what this looks like and hope the others follow suit asap!
 
Sooo does anyone have a 21mbps enabled phone or data card ?...lol all very well having the capacity, but if no one has the equipment who will use it.
 
Can you imagine if they bring the first affordable super fast uncapped service to SA. Telkom, MTN, Vodacom, Iburst would virtually disappear in the Internet business. Maybe that's there plan?

Why would they do that? They currently charge the same for a 500meg bundle as Voda and MTN. And that is shocking considering the fact that they dont even have 3G yet whereas Voda and MTN does. If they wanted to start a price war, then why not do it now?
 
I take it they are going to bring the CellC advert lady back from the dead again.
They probably have a string of husky, bedroom voice witty one liners lined up already. :)
 
Hrm another Chinese win. Lets see we have Hauwei and now ZTE. Now wonder Alcatel, Ericsson and NSN seem to be looking north of our borders more often these days and trying to tie companies to large network contracts. This actually makes a lot of sense as I remember seeing a lot of recruitment for RNE's for zte over the last handful months 2nd only to i think Alcatel who are also trying to get a few contracts too.
