Cell C says it will be first with 21 Mbps HSPA+

Excellent news and I certainly hope that they succeed with the 4G rollout.

Competition is great and this will really shake up the VC/MTN cartel.

And I do hope they're flexible with their pricing, and will give sub R80 per Gig pricing.

Only time will tell.

Yawn, will believe it when I can use it.

Don't get me wrong I love Cell C, however with regards to data they've been promising 3G for at least 3 years now, so at this moment 4G well is just vaporware, until they actually really do deliver it..

R1512 per minute, don't you DARE put AVG on auto-update.

Useless to bring these major upgrades if 1GB is +-R200.

We want R30 per GB.
That way more oakes will buy Cell C sim cards. But if it's like R150 per GB, we will get less attracted and chase or venture for the speed.

Competition @ work

Cell - c might have just burst the internet bubble that MTN, VODACOM, TELKOM, NEOTEL, IBURST were living in.

Its survival time.

2010 will bring lower access costs and better customer service. :)MTN @ VODA could you please keep up your great service.:) An equal spread of internet users by operators means better competition.

All we need now is 25c interconnection rates. Then ICASA can focus on protecting the consumer.

Wake up dude...they never promised 3G...where you from? ZIM?

This will not bring you sub R30 a GB, ADSL struggles to deliver that...it will however increase competition...I think 120/GB is feasbile...

Bit late to the ball...

I left CellC because MTN offers better speeds... Should have had this done by the World Cup...

Looks like Lars P. Reichelt has been a good appointment for Cell C

Mmmmm I called this couple years ago when they decided to drop 3G altogether.
4G will serve them well!! Its alot more stable and they(hopefully) have the funds to roll out nationwide.
The others namely Voda are spending millions on fibre roll outs that have yet to pay out...
Let wait and see...

HSPA+ is not 4G its a stepping stone to 4G/LTE

LTE involves a completely revised network

Cell C?
Who wudda thunk it.
And Telkom mobile also on its way.
Man oh man Vodacom and MTN are in for a clobbering because their piece of the pie will finally shrink.
Makes me happy.
