Cell C Speed Test Results

Hi All

we are aware of these issues, and are working on it, our towers are been upgraded, so that we can provide you a better service.

@maximum_ian. what are you reading at the momnet please can you tonite capture them and PM them to me with all other reading as above,
and ill take this matter up and see why down for such a long period of time !

still no good:

Your signal is quite good. From these numbers, I can determine this:

How far are you from that tower? I had an issue where my closest tower was not giving me my signal.

based on a guess i am 800 - 500m away as the crow flies.... form the MTN tower in which cellc received a license to erect a 3g antenna.... from the day this was done my speeds began to fly... it was great until everyone else found out that my area had coverage and that slow down began...

Well, its actually what the technicians have told me, the peak periods mon-thurs have high pings 170ms + and weekends and off peak are 70ms - 89ms and the download goes from 8- 11mb/s down to 1 - 3mb/s and upload from 1.5mb/s down to anything lower than 0.5mb/s... they don't have enough bandwidth on certain towers and they checked my tower and said that its overloaded....

So people are joining faster than cellc can expand towers and provide higher bandwidth, thats why they are upgrading to 42mb/s so we can get slightly improved speeds perhaps closer to 10 or 12mb/s.... that's my take on it.... problem is we suffer 5 out of 7 days...

Proof i used to have a fast weekday connection... but this was 2 days after they upgraded the tower in Durbanville on the 5th February 2011... La verona mast...

mine tonight
better than last night, but worse than this afternoon, was in the high 2's down and over 1 up, guess I have a lot of users in the area in the evening

sheesh, CellC, what have you done??? best result I've had in a long time :D

This is what I get. Absolutely retarded. And this is on a "good" day these days.. It even says that it's slower than 71% of ZA!

One day my cell c will be almost as fast as your. I am slower then 88% of south africa!
I have a month old case and still no resolve. I told the tech that some feedback would be nice and he said that the person who is going to "TRY" rectify my problem will contact me. That was more then a week ago. This makes me think that the are having allot of problems causing a massive back log or they just aren't doing anything.

Still suffering from the slow upload speeds from time to time, but why were my results from Neology faster even though the ping was 30% longer?
