Cell C Speed Test Results

:O
U tried moving around see if reception stable in certain area of house, could be tower u connected is just wobbly (up/down) :p

At the moment I'm sitting at the one place where the reception is the best. Most places I don't get signal at all or only 2% to 10%. Just now it went up to 99%.

Check CellC App -> Settings -> Network Status -> RSSI
Should give you a db value of signal strength, similar to what ginggs app does

Mine is -85 dBm, fine speeds except for ftp & ssh so far
And the disconnect problems, but good value for money service just wish they would provide some customer service.

Maybe I should get myself a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNG USB cable and let the modem hang in front of a window or in the roof or something. Maybe is works better. Just had 0% connection for a while.

Well, I also think it's good value for money. I'm just used to getting 10mbps downloads at my studio with Telkom ADSL.

Phone customer support and tell them to have a tech check the tower, tell them you not getting a connection it erratic. Also try to use someone else's bundle from your place if possible.

Hi macboer

Welgelegen does seem to be on the edge of the High-Speed Coverage plot, but we're going to send your speedtest to our Western Cape Network Team to confirm what kind of speeds Welgelegen should expect to get.

Cell_C, any chance of Dorchester Heights in East London being improved, we can only get Edge (VC is 3G in that area).

Hi Piesang,

We'll check this out similar to macboer.

Hi Jola
That's also right on the edge, but our extended plot (which is the planned rollout by Jan 2011 seems to encompass your area.
Check out the attachment.

Dude, thanks a bunch.
I'm trying to get in contact with tech support but dialing 140 just make me listen to a bunch of crap.
What is the number for cellc tech support?

Thanks again.

The only number I see is 140. I'm not a CellC client, except for my mobile internet so I don't have any info on them at all.

I am still getting consistently good speeds - approx 4-5 mbps running my whole house of a Dovado router, 24/7, but I am also wondering whether I am still the only one in Centurion that is using it? Has not been launched here yet.

Am a bit scared when the rest of Gauteng joins me!

I Think I'm going to join you in Centurion today hopefully. What is weird is that the cell c map shows no covering for Centurion :O or it just didn't load correctly. Anyway I'm glad to see Centurion gets 4-5mbps
I hope Pierre v. Ryneveld will also be as good.

I am in Lyttelton Manor, so not too far from you. The reason you can't see it on the coverage map is because it has not yet been officialliy launched in Gauteng.

See below a recent speed test:
