Riddle me this Cell C

Did a little exercise and I am very confused, so Cell C help me out here .......................

Base Station Clearwater Mall S26 07.700 E27 54.378 did a test exactly 837m from the base station and got the following result http://speedtest.net/result/1472247460.png very good numbers I'm sure you will agree.

Then did a test where the modem normally resides and got the following result http://www.speedtest.net/result/1475479106.png... the distance from the closest base is 825m.

So my question is, same distance give or take, same time of the day, same modem so WHY can't I get the same results even being a few meters closer to the nearest base station.

Using the ZTE MF190 (7.2Mbps)

While downloading 2 separate files from filesonic and fileserve respectively, I got the following on speedtest:

I think Cell C has done something good to the Papegaaiberg tower in Stellenbosch. I've noticed my modem switching apparently randomly between UMTS2100 and UMTS900 from the same tower. But I get slightly better results on UMTS2100. Maybe this tower or shall I rather say "channel" is "under subscribed" because of the weaker indoor penetration. No problems of course with the corner reflector in the roof.

It looks like the 41 IP address range is slower. Performed two tests back to back on the same tower. Just a quick disconnect/reconnect to change IP address.
On the 197 IP address range I get:

and on the 41 IP range

Interesting!

I also you noticed you are using the Neology speedtest server in Midrand. I find I get more consistent results from this server.

About a year ago Cell-C recommended using the Johannesburg server, at that stage there were only Vodacom and a Cell-C speedtest servers, now there are quite a few and besides the inconsistent results, you can't be sure the one you pick now will be available next time you log in.
