Cell C Speed Test Results

Cell C has been nothing but a pain since this the beginning of this month in Greenstone! What's going on Cell C?

Download Speed: 846 kbps (105.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 29 kbps (3.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 360 ms

Especially late afternoons (around 4:30pm), your speeds are often unbearable....!

Going thru the motions of testing them now .
From 8ta store the sim was free......buy R150 airtime...call 8ta & get the sim changed to allow 2GB + 1GB(midnite surf) option from USSD menu.....load airtime.....select option..

i have the same kak speeds with 100% signal strength - really lucky to have grabbed a 21Mbps capable modem for this type of performance /sarcasm off

Also a Y-splitter cable to draw juice from more than 1 USB port?

Hi Lib's ,Got mine sitting in a powered usb hub to rule that issue out - Rang tech support & gave tower id's etc to someone 2 days ago - So far no change or contact.

Do try other USB ports just to make sure.

That is in my office in York Avenue, Randburg, from a XP machine. Signal strength 100%

At my house in Wilgeheuwel it is around 28Kbs. Signal strength 100%

I am very dissapointed. I cant get the thing to work on a Windows 7 64bit Pro box.

I am going to take it back and get a refund.

Any theorys on why the upload speed should be so bad?
Dwn-1.5/Up-1.0 internet is still ok but when the ratios like Dwn-1.5/Up-0.03 (as i'm getting also) even browsing is painful.
Thought it may have been the 1820 but i've ruled that out by using another modem & still see consistantly bad upload speeds.

8ta on the other hand- where the net works fine

I bought a 5m USB ext cable to so I can expose by stick in a better location but it doesn't work.Not enough power apparently.
Will it work if I use more than 1 usb port?
