Cell C tariff reduction on new package

As much as I hate Virgin for their service (and unreliable ATM topups...) - until a network offers a better per second rate I won't switch.

so mikef am i correct to say the tariff is full R1.50 for whatever seconds of the first minute and thereafter 75c for every 30sec?

That's correct. It is the way all per minute calls are billed - which was the norm up until a couple of years ago.

Yes - the 75c is for each 30 seconds or part thereof after the first minute.

Call length - Cost
0-60sec - R1.50
61-90sec - R2.25
91-120sec - R3.00 and so on

Yes so 23.3min in off peak costs you R35. What a bargain in PEAK time but Off Peak its a tad more expensive than MTN and Vodacom. But PEAK its a massive saving especially if you are calling another network!

thanx guys,i will definately grab one cell c sim for peak calls...MTN Anytime contract charges R2.30 per min and a whooping R2.85 out of bundle rate

They don't block it but when you are caught using DATA for skype or VOIP they have the "right" to charge you over R25 per megabyte!

Where I have tried, cell c data is not capable of reliable skype out / regular skype to skype voice.

I can confirm that its per second after the 1st minute!!!

I have made a 30sec call and it charged me R1.50 then I mad a 1min call and it charged me R1.50 then I made a call for 1min3sec and I got charged R1.55 so its defenitly per second after the 1st minute and not in 30 segments like every 1 is thinking! :)

You serious? What do you base this on? I've used skype quite a bit from my phone without any such issues. I don't think I've signed anything allowing Vodacom to determine what I use my data on (but could have missed the small print).

Its in the vodacom and MTN forum. Its apparently in the TOS and AUP

Thanks for clarifying :)

Haha would love to see them try to force me to pay this :)

I like the new prices. Since when you you make a 3min call during peak time for R4.5?? Its still expensive. Way higher than other places in the world but its much cheaper. Its R1.50 cheaper for me now than it was a while back when cellc had R2 per minute.

Or the per second billing of R2.90 to other networks!
