Cell C under fire for poor service quality

Please sort out the HLR

Cell C slated for poor service quality

Cell C subscribers take to the Internet to complain about the mobile operator’s network and service delivery problems

Hi Cell-C ,

Could you please sort out your HLR ( Home Locations Registers countrywide )
Calls are never reaching our mobile phones even though the mobile is on and able to receive.

Also connection to your back-end Inernet system or the billing mechanism is preventing continous throughput.

I've had problems with a brand new cell C account for over 3 weeks now - out of the box issue with the telephone, they have taken over 3 weeks now and have not replaced the phone yet, nor are they able to answer any queries when I try to phone them up about the issue.

Pathetic - 99c per minute comes at a big cost! They've lost my support as a customer, I now just want to end the relationship as soon as possible...

At the same time, network quality is pathetic and getting worse, I can't believe the number of dropped calls and "missed calls" where people can't get through to me because of the bad network!

MYBB Staff writers are always on about Cell C. Give them a chance guys.

Vodacom calls drop extremely often. Because Icasa stated Vodacom has the best network, I truly believve the 29M subscribers are not of that opinion.

As for MTN, they were in the same basket with Cell C and yet MYbb does not report as often on them. Wonder Y.

Please, for the record, I ported my main number from Vodacom to Telkom mobile and will not touch Cell C right now but give the negative publicity a break.

Just my 2c

In all fairness, MyBB is just reporting on what's happening out there in the real world. There's no point in sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the fact that CellC has 5x more complaints than anyone else.

It's fair reporting, they report on CellC's plans too. Injecting R200 Million into increasing capacity on the towers. There's no victimisation here.

Thankfully my cell c network is serving me great and I don't seem to have any of the issues mentioned here at least not more than when I was with MTN.

For those with genuine concerns try the network first with a prepaid simcard in your usual areas before you change over this works best, and for those already with cell c without doing your homework then there is fortunately a beacon of hope for you yet.

No problems with CellC that I did not get on any other network.

My BB constantly writing negative articles is not good, the stronger CellC gets the better for us as consumers. People forget that both MTN and Vodacom have had to reduce their prices in recent years, this is thanks to CellC imho.

They are building new base stations and have just had a huge cash injection, their network will improve - again, not that I have any issues.

He added that when Cell C customers have a valid complaint, they are always willing to investigate and implement corrective measures.

None of my multiple calls open since August last year must be valid then.
Is having no signal all of a sudden not valid?

He said that Cell C is upgrading its network and increasing capacity on a daily basis.

I'm sorry but I call BS on this. Other than promising more capacity and incorrectly closing calls as resolved nothing has changed in the last year in my area.

Glad to know we found the root of the problem.

Oversubscribed – please fix it Cell C. What is the change of getting a contract cancelled if they don’t deliver the promised service? I’ve had it with dropped calls and no throughput.

What did CellC subs expect?
They bought a Tata and are expecting MercedesBenz/BMW Service

All they do with complaints is tell you: "We're upgrading our network". I've been logging complaints for over 6 months and NOTHING has been done during that period.

I say let them bury their heads in the sand. Their customers will port as soon as their low priced contracts expire.

I don't even bother using their network anymore continuous drop calls, no throughput on their data network at all or worst no single at times. Hopefully the R200 million on 100 base station will justify an improvement or show how oversubscribed they are.

Sometimes you pay what you get and sometimes going the cheaper route isn't always viable.
