Cell C under fire for poor service quality

He said that Cell C is upgrading its network and increasing capacity on a daily basis.
I'm sorry but I call BS on this. Other than promising more capacity and incorrectly closing calls as resolved nothing has changed in the last year in my area.

Did they mention your area specifically that you can call it BS?
My in laws live in Balfour MP and there was no Cell C 3g a year ago, today there is and I get speeds of around 2,5mbps which is worlds ahead of constant time outs and speeds below 100kbps...so they have improved in that area I know this for a fact.

So happy I don't have to buy expensive MTN data for when I visit the in laws.Oh and I have a talkom mobile go big promo but they have no signal at all there hence why I had to use MTN there in the past.

I havn't run into any major issues with my Cell C, the signal is really strong in PE, just its not as fast as it used to be for me, and I still get that random 10 - 20 minutes of no connectivity

Well I think Cell C should speed up their network upgrades, if they keep getting more and more bad articles like this, people wont wanna move over to Cell C.

I support Cell-C BUT.............................

Hi Cell-C ,

Could you please sort out your HLR ( Home Locations Registers countrywide )
Calls are never reaching our mobile phones even though the mobile is on and able to receive.

Also connection to your back-end Inernet system or the billing mechanism is preventing continous throughput.

NEPHEW -

It am just guessing that this is the problem. I am no expert.
However the HLR could be the problem.

Also when trying to connect to the Internet.
Connection establishes but no Throughput of data.
I have since terminated my prepaid Data Contract.
Telkom Mobile 60 + 60 works well NO issues actually quite impressive.

2Gig - MTN is my backup.

So whilst I support Cell-c I need a service to work.
If they cannot provide that then i cannot be with them.

I am on Cell-C for Voice but that is about to change as my calls are not being sent through to my Mobile.
Sorry but i also need a Mobile Phone that works.

All said and done I support Cell-C 100% wish they had a decent product.

Struggle for connection in Midrand, even worse in Bryanston. Where am I supposed to use the phone if I can't use it at home and work??

I guess we were suckers for going for the cheaper option after all.

I'm actually very happy with the data speeds I get in the area's I use my phone BUT the dropped calls are getting annoying....

Other than that billing is on the ball and gets billed exactly the amount I should on the time I specified. Call rates are good and reception is good too where I use my phone.

Glad to know we found the root of the problem.

Thank you for your honesty.

Dropped calls have never been an issue until recently. Since last month it has gotten ridiculous. I tried to call someone 6 times within 2 minutes from inside a mall and only got through on the last attempt. Even then, the voice quality was so bad she just hung up. We ended up just whatsapping.

This was within CellC's famous "5 bars HSPA" coverage. Pitiful.

Nope my area was not mentioned but adding capacity on a daily basis would cost way more than Cell-C ever could afford.
Also his previous comment about every query being investigated is crap since some of mine have been have been unresolved since last August.

I'm really happy for everyone getting good service from them but that doesn't mean that everyone is getting the same level of service.

I am just from the High Court in Pretoria and no data signal in the whole of the CBD! For a long time, it showed showed 3G with no data coming through, then it went on Vodacom Edge with pathetic speeds. This is not on! This is Pretoria CBD, not Put-Sonder-Water. Two of my friends also experience bad speeds. Cell C, you did great to get so much market share but don't mess it up. Improve your networks now or it will be too late. MTN lost 200 000 customers in a short time due to their Edge network and high prices. Don't follow suit Cell C.
