CellC 4G / LTE

Local server for sure. look at the ping time.
Something similar I was getting with Vodacom on average, with maximum 6Mbps.
With Cell C slightly better, 7-8Mbps, from the same tower. Vodacom and Cell C share this tower from Telkom.

Why post your speedtest results in kB/s when mbps is the industry standard?

Give it a little time, it'll get much better as they roll out. Pretty much pick up LTE most places I go in JHB now... Speed test earlier today, Linden area...

Ok so you guys using what router with what dongle?

Netgear WNDR3800 with ROOter firmware which supports USB modems faster than 25mbps. Using a Huawei E3276 for telkom LTE and a ZTE MF831 for Cell C LTE. Check here which routers and modems are compatible, then make sure to buy the correct model of the USB modem which supports the LTE frequencies of your network.

Thank you ! :)

Thank you ! :)

Fyi, if you're willing to wait around 6-8weeks order those USB modems off ebay at less than R400 each. Plus you pay almost no tax on it (sars allows two free "gift" imports < R400 each per year). Ive bought two already this year and only paid ~R20 each time in handling at the post office. Just make sure the ebay seller as a good rating, get your address perfect and get a tracking number. Oh and be willing to take a chance on SAPO. Some people have lost some packages. Ive only had good service.

Tripple check the frequencies and model number of the modem you buy, and match to the network you want:
MTN & Vodacom LTE on 1800MHz FDD
CellC LTE on 2100MHz FDD
Telkom LTE on 2300MHz TDD

Huawei E3276s-601 for all except Cell C.
Huawei E3276s-150 for all except Telkom.
Huawei E3276s-920 for only Telkom.
ZTE MF831 (very new) supposedly for all SA LTE - the one I got works only for Voda, MTN & CellC

I assume it doesn't mean that if you have good 3G signal that LTE will be the same right? I'm hesitant to drop like R1000-R1500 on a LTE modem which might not work...

Any recommendations where to get good priced LTE modems? I've checked Takalot and Raru, seem ok...

Get home router Huawei B315s R999 from Edgars/CNA/Jet in the Telkom section. It supports all SA LTE networks
