CellC 4G / LTE

I doubt it is 3G. Cell C do not use DCSHPA+ (42Mbps), your download speed cannot come from HSPA+ (21Mbps) connection. I think you are on LTE, ping time suggests the same. :)

It has to be 3G, my iPad 3 doesn't have LTE and the SIM card in the iPad is not the 'Blue' enabled LTE SIM card.

Another Speedtest this morning....

Some pre-blue SIM cards are also USIM type.
They must have enabled DC-HSPA+ (42Mbps) then. So far Vodacom was the only one with DC-HSPA+ in some (few) areas.

Kyalami Hills, Cell C LTE using B315 router

Sorry that was actually LTE on my phone, not through my WiFi connection. Still Cell C in the same area though. Really impressed with their performance in the Midrand area and Sunninghill.

If your device gets a LTE signal then you are covered for 4G right?

Aparently Cell C has just launched LTE Advanced in parts of Gauteng and Cape Town

http://www.fin24.com/Tech/Mobile/cell-c-switches-on-lte-advanced-in-sa-20160425

South Africa’s third largest mobile network Cell C says it has activated its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town.

Only a handful of supported handsets capable of LTE-A though.

Cell C’s LTE-A network is set to be available on what is dubbed ‘category 6’ handsets such as the Samsung Note 5 (SM-920C), Samsung S6 EDGE (SM-G928C), Apple iPhone 6S, Apple iPhone 6S Plus, Huawei Mate 8_DS, Samsung S7 Flat (G930F), Samsung S7 Edge (G935F) and LG G5 (H850).

Ok, I know it's like months later but I tested Telkom LTE and signal is very poor. So then also tested CellC LTE all around the house, signal is better than Telkom but still not close CellC 3G.

These are the best speeds:
Telkom LTE 7Mb very unstable
CellC LTE 27Mb unstable
CellC 3G 10Mb rock solid

I think the site I'm connecting to is a office building down the road from me, hopefully CellC upgrades it LTE some time...
