Cell C is in MELTDOWN ! As per my Hello Peter that did not even get response ......

3 Jan I received the following SMS
+1103
Pls be advised that yr acc is in arrears by 613.96. Yr services will b suspended if payment isn’t received in 2 days. Cell C 4yrself.
Moments after I get the following
+1103
Please fax proof of payment to 08414329, and then call 140 to have your services reactivated. Cell 4yrself
And then
+1103
CellC banking details are:

And then the following SMS from
+0840077776033
Dear Customer, Pls ignore previous SMS regarding payment and yr service being suspended. We have moved onto a new online system for the submission of
Credit card payments between the 5th and 10th of Jan. Yr payment profile will also be updated with the bureaus.

So off course I ignored the messages and assumed I am not in arrears and you will deduct the money from my credit card.

The next I get is an SMS stating that my account, my handset and I will be blacklisted.

So I call up and hear they want to ‘confirm’ my credit card details. (Today I hear they lost all their credit card details.)

I repeated credit card details, it failed (there is NOTHING wrong with the card or account)
They tried it again and it failed.
I gave my Cheque Card -It worked, I'm still blacklisted

Wed 2 Mar 11 Utterly disgusted: Contrary to the copy and paste BS response above .....
I was NOT contacted and this is NOT sorted out. It's official I am cancelling all CellC contracts and will never deal with them ever again ! Take that TREVOR !

UPDATE : I have been unable to reach CELLC by SMS, EMAIL or even dialling 140 or even other number I have got.

All I want to do is cancel everything, and I can't.

Tobie

I have been struggling for 3 months now to cancel the contract, they could not tell me how much data i was using, so according to there 7 day return policy I took the device back.

They are absolutely useless, will never do business with them again. Far happier with my current WISP.

In January i noticed that none of my debit orders went through. Received threatening sms's of service cut off and blacklisting. After enquiring I was told that they were unable to debit my account due to insufficient funds...like wtf! I contact my bank and everything is fine. Contact them once again and was told that my credit details are not correct. I reconfirm the credit details and was told to wait a day or two for them to re-debit my account. 2 days later nothing. I contact them again and was told my credit card was rejected!! I am already furious and cant for the life understand what the hell is going on!! 1 week later i receive another call from their accounts division asking that i reconfirm my credit card once again!!! anyway i reconfirmed and my December + January bill was finally deducted.

Its now March and no debit orders have gone through for February. seems like the system is broken again! its a real nightmare trying to get any form of assistance from their call centre...im fed up with their billing problems!!

This is just another example of why SA apparently has the highest prepaid cellular usage in the world (along with Brazil, I believe).

ESPECIALLY with Cell C, which was notorious right from the start for its billing chaos. They're doing great things now shaking up the data market -- but I still wouldn't dream of signing a contract with them. (Off the record one of their store people also admitted that Billing is still their achilles heel).

when will cellc resolve their incompetent debit order system? after logging tons of complaints, their call centre keeps asking that I reconfirm my credit card details as the system conveniently fails to save/update these details!! this constitutes possible fraud and raises suspicion in my view as i willingly confirm these details over the phone to random people!! its now middle of march and my February account remains outstanding! what will it take to end this frustration cellc!!! I've tried all means of communication with no luck!! Even the CellC stores are clueless and cannot assist! I WILL NOT RECONFIRM MY DETAILS AGAIN!!!!!!!!

does anyone else have this problem?

UPDATE : I have managed to cancel my contracts due to this billing nightmare. I will only know at the end of April if it was successfully cancelled because that's when the last debit order will run.

One guy admitted to me that they lost the credit card details.
It is a big fat spin of theirs to say they want to 're-confirm' your details. They don't have it in the first place.
When I asked , OK, so what card details do you have ? He read numbers and expiry dates from some years ago.
(This after having successfully been debited in November 2010.)
Even after I re-confirmed, they were unable to process on my credit card with which there is nothing wrong.

I gave debit card details, it worked. They did not off-course apply the funds to my account.

So when I call to enquire about my account status, it still shows in arrears.

I have been contacted and assured that all is now in order, but who knows ?

Good luck guys.

PS. CellC ! I am an IT guy, Billing Systems Programmer. For a few million I can fix this for you. !

don’t believe them....i was also advised that everything will be in order and 3 months later I’m still pee'd off as hell!

not once in 7 years had i experienced such problems....one would think an upgrade to a system will have it running more efficiently however it seems to be the total opposite!

yes we understand things can go horribly wrong with any IT upgrade but surely you have a project plan detailing key issues before deploying systems and migrating information? These are basic project planning principles! This also leaves their backup processes in question if they managed to loose vital information such credit card numbers. Shocking!!!

Their head developers and project managers should be shot on the spot! I’ve bombarded them with the same email over 10 times in hope that someone will be able to help but still waiting in vain....
