Census 2022 results released

South Africa’s population reached 62 million last year, a national census showed, 20% higher than when the last count was undertaken in 2011.

The average annual growth rate of 1.8% over the period was the highest since the first post-apartheid-rule census was undertaken in 1996, the data released by the national statistics agency on Tuesday showed.

Well supposedly 31% of the people werent even counted. Whole suburbs I know in Cape Town wasnt even counted. Quite possibly the staff was simply filling in the sheets themself.

I wasn't included either. But, I suppose their terms and conditions may make allowance for a few tens of millions of people not really counted. Nonetheless, the stats look very, very impressive for such a growing and world dominant country.

Do note the White population as a percentage is declining, but its staying pretty much the same numbers wise. Below the stats from Stats SA. If I am not mistaken by the current trajectory but 2035 we would have almost 100 million people in SA. The downside is that a lot have to rely on social services, and so the strain becomes more on the tax base. As people leave for abroad, it will keep putting more and more pressure on till it breaks.

Currently its noticably breaking if we look at the tax shortfalls being collected.

I'm interested to know where you get this number of 31%?

Census Data totally inaccurate and waste of Taxpayers money again.

Look at the figures how nice they look to make the ANC look like a good government.

I guess the majority are easily fooled again.

I saw some 'weird' people at my gate. First I thought it was a Fibre ISP / Vodacom / Vumatel /Random door knocker/seller... Kept on ignoring them.
'Only' later realised they were census people. So I was not counted.
I had no need to tell a stranger how many toilets I have at home, so no issue for me and the uncounted on-prem toilets, etc

Yup, nice how they report "access to...". In truth most of those are illegal connections and communal taps. A pit toilet is access to a toilet. The country is going down the toilet and the ANC is making themselves look like the good guys.
