I note below "smart gate motor". Besides sonoffs etc, can one simply replace boards of a normal Centurion D5 gate motor with board from this D5 smart?

Main features
Speed
The perfect balance between security and safety with a top speed of up to 36 metres per minute
Diagnostics and logging
Makes your life easier with advanced diagnostic feedback
Intelligent logging and reporting
Wireless user interface
Wireless and effortless – easy setup and configuration from your smartphone
SMART hardware
Provides the best experience for installers and end-users alike with easy access to mounting hardware and optimised cable management for the neatest installation around
All the most innovative technological features
Onboard multichannel NOVA receiver with 1500 button memory
Wireless and effortless – easy setup and configuration from your smartphone

Hmm can't but apparently you can install a receiver to open and close with cell.

Im sure the motor and gearbox is the same, it shouldnt be very different from the existing D5 evo.
Im not sure about integrations though, in theory it sounds pretty good, it might just be a simplified setup experience and the halls sensors might just be to read how much travel is left before the gate opens or closes.

I'm somewhat disappointed that centurion is so vague about what this Smart D5 is all about. Feels like they're just hiding behind the buzzword "smart".

Why not?
COM and 12v out to power on GSM controller
I/01 = TRG (Trigger) goes to the GSM controller NO and COM to the GSM controller COM Relay Output.

You can mount the GSM controller anywhere between the intercom phone and the gate, or at the gate itself. All the TRG does is simulate an intercom button push.

You can achieve the same using a Sonoff SV (https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/sonoff-sv-as-a-relay-gate-motor.1064298/). Here I installed one inside the intercom but it can be placed at any location as long as you can access the multicore wire running to the motor.

Yes, according to my gate motor installer, that can be done BUT you cannot replace entire pcb board.

GSM controller doesn't give you the full suite of "smart" functions other than basic open, close and via bluetooth some status.

Apparently the D5 Smart gives you full diagnostics and status of gate open or close anywhere. Assume it has wifi? Because the open and close status if I understood correctly, is accessible via bluetooth.

I'll hopefully get more detail next week. Or someone can buy, install and do a review Its only R7500 fully installed

Little bit more detail and view of inside in review above.

There is no wifi on the D5 Smart. Only works via Bluetooth. I had to install a G Ultra that can be stored inside the motor for Wireless access via the G Remote app. I emailed Centurion devolper to ask if they are planning to implement Voice assistant integration.

Would rather just slap a miniduino in,can read the gate statuses and open/close remotely as required - just not a fancy app

So what is this?

WiZo-Link module
Wireless input-output module using mesh network technology creating fully-wireless connections between devicesView attachment CENTURION SYSTEMS D5 SMART WEB BROCHURE.pdf

Edit

I see NOT real wifi?

WiZo-Link

WiZo-Link uses radio technology to create what is known as a mesh network. This may be described as a layer of radio communications (think of these as roads) where every device (WiZo-Link) is continually acting as a repeater for all the signals (the “traffic” or “vehicles” travelling on the “road”) in the network, even if these devices are not associated with that WiZo-Link.

i would rather use home assistant and slap a tasmotised sonoff sv in there :p

Also looking for a similar solution. Got my alarm system going now with the MiRino app and just need to automate my gate. Also have the D5 but seems like it will cost the same as installing the new "smart" one.

I am using a Shelly 1 to integrate my Centurion D5 Evo to my home automation.

So far so good. I can power the Shelly from the 12V output on the D5 and I can trigger the gate open from the Shelly App.

Now I want to sense the open closed state of the gate and this can easily be done with a reed switch connected to the gate (not sure where to place it yet and I might need a heavy duty door contact) and then to the SW input on the Shelly

.....but I would rather want to connect to an output on the D5 board. So far I know that the status light puts out a 5V to drive an external LED but could not get it to work.

Can you configure the Aux IO to do this and what would the setup in the menu be? Just note there is no IR beams connected to the gate

I used a Sonoff SV to control opening and closing the gate. I then included a little circuit to 'detect' the gate status from the external LED output. There seems to be a big enough demand to build a little product for this....

Anybody know difference in price for D5 vs D5 smart?

Got a quote from Centurion and difference seems less than a R1000. Could this be true?

Update: managed to get it for less than R500 difference.

Recommend D5 smart for 24V motor and the "smart" aspects.

More impressed with ability to add remotes via the phone app.

Can get a receiver that works via gsm. Should be less than R1800 by professional installer and less than R1000 if

Communica sells the receiver for less than a R200
