Maybe, but his evidence would suggest not. And there's everything wrong with boosting the less qualified to the detriment of the more qualified, especially in fields where merit equals progress.

I'm assuming this 'horrible stuff' is how women and men brains are wired differently, men being wired better for things like analytics etc... oh the horror:eek: a scientist should know better, there is no differences between men and women, its a social construct and all that jazz... burn 'him' with fire

Nope, I don't think thats the correct way, his presentation shows that at early post grad, the male/female ratios are about equal, but as time goes on, the women become less.

So either it's busy correcting itself currently and we just need years to pass, but you can see the sudden drop in women at about 10 years into the job... so somewhere in the womens 30s? It does hint towards motherhood being a problem to remain in the industry.

Then the women start to lag behind in the representation numbers. Although, it seems like it never really recovers and just lags slightly behind.

All speculation, but the looking at the graph, the next big impact is after about 25 years, not sure what could cause that sudden drop - that dip could be because of "bias" in the past?

It wasn't always merit when entrance was initially limited according to gender, social standing, etc. They can't crow merit now when they had no problem with lack of merit before. And I doubt those denied a chance at CERN end up sitting at home crying. They'll find other opportunities. Where there's a will there's a way (yeah I know what you'll say about the women).

Who exactly is this they you're talking about? Do you think the men in the field today are the same as those who actively kept people out because of race or gender in the past?

I see an academic paper, I first check the title, then the abstract and then the publisher, after which you go through the rest of the paper.
I really don't care about the author unless that author is famous in their field.

I recall a few months back JRE had a woman neuroscientist on(can't recall name) she was talking about how even the 'hard sciences' are now infected with it, been there in the background for years, but its now completely out of control. Things like biological studies are basically outlawed nowadays... people cry 'climate change is real, look science, pro science', but are complete science deniers on 'progressive pc' topics, its insanity

Are you trying to say that he's claiming the inventions made by men in the past as his or as accomplishments of all men or even all male scientists?

Because what he's actually saying is that physics was created by people who were men.

Sure. If you want to inject your own meaning into what other people say so you can justify your own prejudice, that's your prerogative.
