Change Domain Registrants Email

It's the equivalent of a car dealership selling a car to someone and insisting on keeping the registration of the car in the dealership's name. It's unethical, it's wrong and it clearly violates their own policies. ISP's that continue doing this need to be named and shamed.

I have a company car :D

Look, Im actually on your side with this. The thousands of domains registered through my company only have the clients details on it. Our company policy is not to approve or deny any transfers. The ball is totally in the clients court. I am simply repeating what they told me when I brought this up as a concern with them.

I'm an accredited registrar myself although our domains only number in the hundreds but I can tell you that when we sign up a new client who wants to transfer an existing domain from the likes of Telkom or WebAfrica it often turns into a long drawn out battle because of this issue.

What about Godaddy! The worst ever to do a transfer from/to :/ I dont know what system they are running there, but it is bizarre. Im hoping by the end of this year to break 10k domains or be close to it.

Godaddy is such a dodgy company. I don't understand how they are so successful.

Email was from [email protected]

I had a look at the email that was sent, and I have discussed it with the legal team.

The reply sent was incorrect, probably in light of the gTLD stuff the ZACR are now involved. The whois information on co.za is currently absolute.

There are policy initiatives currently under discussion with regards to privacy services - you can follow these at http://www.zadna.org.za/content/page/policies

Thank you for your clarification and taking the time to respond here. I have a couple of questions around this:

If it is incorrect why do the three biggest providers (ie, Telkom) do it?
Will there ever be a penalty for not complying?
How and when will this be enforced?

I would suggest you put in a formal complaint to legal at co dot za - be sure to include the particular domain name(s).

Okay, I guess you dont want to answer those questions.

@OP As you can see, Calvin recommends you email their legal department if you are having a problem with a domain. I would be interested to see if its just the single domain that is changed into your name or if those big offenders actually change all the contact details.
