Thanks will have a lookWill be far better then your TV speakers, I've got 3 different sets of Microlab speakers and they all work for the job their used for. Looking for a cheap 5.1 speaker system, that i can plug into my tv via 3.5mm audio jack.
Ballpark: R300 to R500
Just want a bit better sound quality when watching movies

Why? Ive seen many guys selling 5.1 pc speakers for those sort of prices. Granted they are old systems, its out there.you are pushing it.

I have a Logitech Z640 set that I would let go at R500. It is a bit bulky to ship to Cape Town, though. Also, it connects with multiple 3.5mm jacks (colour coded).

If you have 5.1 output and stereo speakers the you need to downmix the signal. Have a look here for starters:
