I am looking for a cheap'ish entry level tablet for my 4year old to use while in the pram while I am jogging. Purely for children's games and some educational apps. suggestions?

Geeko Pad is not bad. +- R1000

Then there's the LEAP PAD. Don't know how good it is.

Buy an ipad 1 or alcatel tab from vodacom

Just about everything works on an ipad 1. A mini is nicer but yip. Tons of fisher price games for free let alone disney read along books etc. brilliant. I have an ipad 1 for my daughter and it works well. The alcatel is about 999 at vodacom or so. Has 1gb of memory yes memory not storage space. My boss bought a prestigio from musica. Total rubbish only 512mb of ram which uses about 280 for he o/s. leaving u too little for angry birds 2 onwards. The ipad doesnt have this much worries as just about everything works even with low memory. Android isnt like this. Yes u can add an sd card but thats for storage not memory. The alcatel has 1gb which is nicer.

But really ipad all the way if u have kids. Got the 64gb version packed with some movies and mainly educational games.

Rather consider the Leapster Explorer GS for your 4 yr old, current R500 at BT Games.

My kids love the Leapster. Its strong, durable and has educational games aimed at kids. A tablet will break with one fall where the Leapster is designed to take the punch.

could look at the geeko junior from esquire.

While leapfrog is fantastic for the little ones, they get you on the cost of the apps- something that should be carefully considered.

That is a piece of rubbish. The screen is approx. 6 x6 cm big...with pixels 1cm2. Folks got my kid one for his 3 yr old bday...I threw it in the bin where it belongs. Got him a 7" tablet from Proline. Full of Angry Birds and educational games.

Yeah our son got one too, he was all excited until it started, took it back got a refund :-)

Am I the only one wondering what you mean by this??? Are you joggin with junior while he/she's in a pram?

Make sure you buy a screen protector, These cheap tabs are made from plastic and show scratches in the 1st day of use, I have one I don't use it a lot don't carry it around and its already scratched like $%^& 2 Months old
