I've had a few fast cars over the years. With the most powerful and fastest being an E36 four door M3, which at the time, was a ground breaking car.

But my current Toyota 86 is by far the closest thing I've ever had to a true sports car. Love every moment in it!

Power and speed are not the same thing as proper agility and balanced dynamic handling.

And on today's road's with today's bad drivers everywhere, and the much harsher fines and penalties - I don't miss huge amounts of power, but still enjoy driving where ever I go.

I think the 86 is a true poor man's sports car. So if you cant afford a proper 911 or some other exotic car, it's the closest you are going to get to that experience, at a fraction of the cost. Plus it's practical enough to be used as a daily driver.

I totally agree. I would have gotten an 86 if I wasn't getting married at the time.

The car pictured is NOT a 1.6 GT. It's a 1.2 GT Line Megane.
Either the description is wrong, or the photos. I tend to lean on the description as R260k for a 2018 1.6 GT is a very good price.

911 is more a GT these days than a sports car. Now a Cayman or Boxter on the other hand...

I sometimes miss my 86. Good value for money toy that's fun to drive and difficult to beat in terms of other options.

You’re still young: invest your money. Use the proceeds when you’re old, to buy an expensive sports car, cause that’s when you'll need it to pull misguided young ladies.
Lol that's not how that works. The only people who will have any interest in your 911 are middle aged men.

At some or other motoring show, there was a nasty golf mk1 with wheels that look look like they are collapsing under the weight of the car similarly to what a really fat person's knees look like.
The way Lightning McQueen looks in Cars when he's tired

With tyres that are sitting on the rims like

And yet more of the younger generation took photos with that car than with Porsches and other actually good looking cars.

My very limited experience in this regard.

When you are youngish 25-35 single and eligible, then having a fancy car is attractive to the ladies - I suppose because it's an indicator of success and future earning potential, but you need to have the career etc to go with that.

As you get older women want to see you transition from a fast flashy car to a family car. They don't like it when you try go back!

You are right, and I was about to warn him to be careful of "lines", well spotted, there is a good chance that it was done purposefully.

You can barely drive a hyundai hatchback and now you want a sports car? and most of those cars you posted are not sports cars.
I think we got the gist of what he is looking for, something between mundane and performance, granted the Ford isn't anywhere in there, but the 86 and the Megane GT definitely are.

Depends what your target market is...

Older women do like fast cars

Can confirm, this is true. Hence my wish for a GTI with a panoramic sunroof.
