cheapest mobile broadband in U.K.

Hi all, some advice please, from those in the know...

I'm visiting the U.K. shortly, taking along my laptop and E220 data card, and would like to remain connected to the world whilst there. So, which of the mobile networks offers the cheapest data rates? This would just be used for general browsing (news, Facebook, etc.) as well as e-mail... nothing 'heavy'.

I already have a Virgin Mobile (U.K.) prepaid SIM but their data charges equate to something like R75 per megabyte... crazy stuff.

Take a look at this thread from a few weeks ago. There is also a link in there on how to setup a prepaid SIM for a 10 Pound 1GB bundle on the 3 network.
