Cheating in BF2

Yup sometimes i will shoot someone and they just won't go down, other times take a potshot and kill the oke instanta headshot :p

I find the biggest problem in bf 2 is when someone owns someone over and over the person get owned believes they must be hacking, it does not cross their mind that the guy may just be better than them for the moment and they should rather try up their game :).

i have had the same thing, you empty a whole clip into the guy right in front of you and he takes two shots at you and you're history, then other times you see some bloke running a mile away, take a potshot and he goes down,

i understand the geniune talent thing and getting owned but it gets a little frustrating when you do exactly the same thing as he does but come off second best everytime :rolleyes:
 
Yea hoegh you must remember as well at some point someone has emptied an entire clip into you and you have turned around and shot him.

basically i think when you play bf 2 you should just accept the way you die and how you die and respawn.

I know when i used to just AT people moaned and said i use haxx but those are the same people who go prone and run straight at me, they do not think ok so killa is hitting me everytime because i either go prone or run straight at him maybe i should try dodging a rocket and once he misses kill him :p no no let me rather scream haxx because i am so good that nobody should be able to kill me running straight or going prone :p

makes sense, and you are right, far to many people shout haxx when they get beaten by a better player, the problem I have found is that with bf being an oldish game and there being a fairly small community of dedicated players, you naturally end up with only the best of the best playing so when a noobish person comes along they get absolutely smoked, this makes them very negative and start screaming and shouting about hax forgetting the fact that (all things considered) you are probably playing with the best of the best in SA (as they are the only people left playing) - this is what I tell myself when I get thrashed some days :p

The bestest kills EVER are the ones where you just know the bloke will go prone (i.e 99% of players) when they see you, and all you have to do is squelch them with your AT rocket. No moving taget = +1 AT rocket kill :D

TBH, the die round walls thing etc isn't so much your ping (unless you are widly out of synch with the server), but how fast your PC can draw (so FPS then).

I used to play BF2 on a crusty laptop and it took ages to draw everything in - as a consequence I died a lot when I jumped round corners. But when your PC has a high FPS rate, you can do that and get the jump on the bloke round the corner because your PC is working faster than his.

Play on a crusty laptop and move to a l33t rig and see the difference, even with the same ping.

well, i jumped from a 17' crt to a 22' lcd and cranked the res right up and it improved my play by about 10%, just having the ability to see so much more makes life so much better!!
 
Hi guys.

Something I'd like to add to the discussion :


Have you guys used the PB sleep function at all?
You can set your PB to scan at its maximum legal interval which is 500. (Seconds I think)

Press your tilde key "`" and type the following lines :

pb_security 0
pb_sleep 500
pb_writecfg


After I did this I have not experienced lagg in a looong time.


But regarding the hackers.... yes I agree that the servers are teaming with them.
The worst for me is when I play as EGGMAN I can actually still get a gold medal here or there... almost like they either tone down or switch off their hacking.
But when I smurf they just do not care.


One thing I can say though and I'm sure Killa will agree with me :

They might be hacking but they even suck at THAT if I can still do well (top 5) most of the time while smurfing.

pb_sleep 500

Punkbuster, as you probably know, is the anti cheating software which comes bundled with BF2 and is required to play on all ranked servers and most public servers. Punkbuster scans your hard-drive for problems every 20 seconds. As you may have guessed, this causes a lot of lag. What we are going to do is to increase the amount of time in between punkbuster checks to 500 seconds (the maximum amount so don't try anything higher lol). By the way, in case you were worried, this is 100% safe with punkbuster, and will NOT cause any problems with Punkbuster thinking you are a cheater. Punkbuster even recommends this on their website.

I have watched some one play useing wall hacks and aiming bots and its amazing to a how many others cheated as well see.in the other players through a building and he folows your every move like there isnt a bulding between you and him kinda takes all the fun out of the game, maybe thatswhy I dont play any more
 
Yea, a Marshall on each side who is allowed to run hacks with the aim of using the hack's abilities to locate other hackers is a useful alternative.

I do not think that PunkBuster has server-side configuration options to allow a "master" hacker or two to play.

So, the cure (punkbuster) that is not working properly ends up becoming the hindrance to a potential solution.

Kind of reminds me of the Antivirus situation ...

Welcome eggy :).

Don't get addicted like me, well people that hack can only achieve good shots but in general cannot play bf 2, if they could they woiuld not need too hack :D

Also though i have said it before just because someone head shots you from a seemingly impossible position does not mean they are hacking.

What if I want to have the unlocks, without having to play online?

I basically share the game with my two sons. Due to bandwidth issues we cannot play online much. Screamer already owns my @ss for downloading the 1.5 patch this month.

So how if anyway can I get the unlocks. Even if this means never playing online again.I gather this would be regarded as unfair towards other players (on the servers) and I agree with that.:D
 
Dude bf 2 is a game you must play online, surely you can afford 10gb local bandwidth and run route sentry, 10gb local is only 70 bucks.
 
I see the next rank(cpl) gives me an unlock, what is it and how does the unlocks work from there?

Also, I got the SF expansion pack but seem to be a few maps short, any idea why?

all 3 of you guys can play battlefield as much as you want, all you need is a local account, 30 gigs is 130 bucks, thats 10 each, probaly wont even get through that much, but you can use it on other things.

you only need international to log in through the main menu, probaly wont use more than 10 megs for that.
like whats a name said use route sentry and you all can have some fun online
