Transunion credit bureau is one dodgy operation. Last time they called me trying to offer me services, i told them to go and jump in lake. Their call centre is pathetic (u will wait very very long on hold), and they take 2 months to answer emails.

I have looked at the site but don't know how to access it without subscription.
Can anyone help me.

If you're talking about the mead one.. then you can't...

And I even got so bored as to think about doing a check with a subscription, and they can't even give me a value on a 2004 Mercedes C200K Avantgarde.. because its classed as "exotic" or they don't sell enough in a year.. I mean wtf....

R30 is a decent figure for the service... IF they could value my car..... but they can't so they don't get R30 from me.

maybe you should select the classic or elegance and add on a R10k-R15k avantgarde premium to whatever it spews out :p

Apparently nobody sells enough of the C200K for the to get any kind of data off it.

Unfortunately they work very close with the Credit Regulator, which isn't one of the greatest organizations in SA. Furthermore, they draw up the credit models to pretty much any company you can think of in South Africa. When you go to Mr. Price for example and apply for an account, your details goes through a Transunion Model and returns with "yay" of "nay".

Also quite large in the US - third biggest consumer credit reporting firm in the US. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TransUnion .

My wife works for them - a good company, but she doesn't work directly with the public, so can't comment on that! Won't call them "dodgy", just not big on consumer service.

i hear u, but i call them dodgy if they, as u say, aren't big on customer service, but then call me up trying to get me to subscribe to a service where i have no confidence in them providing any support should i run into problems with that paid for service. They can take your money but are answerable to no one and don't have to answer their phones or emails. I'm not the only one that thinks so, lots of people have complained about them. They really pissed me off last year.

If what i have mentioned is not intentional then they are instead incompetent on the customer service front. It doesn't bode well for consumer confidence.

DAMN I needed the Mead website today... Now it navigates to Transunion...
Another Free service that was bumped to premium...

come on, 30 bucks isn't so bad.
checked the value of my a4 and the SO's sirion.

BTW I find it ludicrous that you have to PAY to get your credit ratings... Dealt with Transunion before and they're nothing short of pathetic

Last time I checked you can buy the dealer's price book from them for like R3k. We should all pitch, buy it and digitise the info and post online. And perhaps get sued...

I know just how you feel, I bought my 2005 1.6 polo classic comfort 2 years ago for 90k and it's trade value is now 53k retailing for 64k. Tragic! :wtf:
