Cheetahs Supporters Thread

So, Lionel Mapoe loses his appeal and needs to return to Bloemfontein by tomorrow 15h00.

He will leave shortly anyway but will now always be remembered as the guy who absconded.

Congrats Cheetahs, well played. You had the patience and experience when it comes to the crunch matches in CC and it showed. For the Lions hard luck boys you are a young side with lots of potential to come back next year and make a clean sweep.

Phew..

I was really nervous about this match. Well done Ashley Johnson. JOU YSTER!!!

Now we can play for a home semi. If the Sharks will do us the favour of beating the WP next week.

Too be honest I am really hoping for a WP vs Cheetahs semi at Newlands. I'm in Hermanus for my honeymoon that weekend and will gladly drive to Cape Town for that match.

Ashley Johnson's second try.

Had to watch most of the game hiding behind a pillow. Was so nervous about this game.

SOOOOoooo happy we won. Now if we can beat the Leopards with 5 points and Sharks beat Province. That'll put us in second with a home semi against the Bulls.

Philip Burger is returning to SA from Perpignan in France and has signed until 2012 with the Free State Cheetahs.

Rumours have it that the Lions offered him BIG BIG money to come to Jo'burg, but he signed with his old province the Cheetahs.

More bad news for Cheetahs with Philip Burger also ruled out for a further 5 weeks with a calf injury.

Eish. Guess with Toyota Cheetahs everything doesn't keep going right.

Something went right.

Waratahs 3 - 23 Toyota Cheetahs

First win overseas since they started playing Super Rugby. And what a win!

Wow! Super win. And over the Waratahs, awesome :D

Hopefully they can now keep beating the other overseas teams. This new format forces you to support your countries' teams, so that your conference is the stronger one. But I always had a soft spot for the cheetahs.

So close, yet so far!

The defense that won us the game against the Waratahs was nowhere to be seen today.
Shocking missed tackles and players breaking the defensive line, allowing gaps as big as Mpumalanga potholes to open up in defense.

Why must they always chase the game?

Sad to see the Cheetahs come so close. Eish! :(

I would imagine the disruption of the injuries must be hurting the game plan.

Injuries or no injuries, there is no game plan.

I'll say it again. Our forwards are doing all the hard work while the backs kick the precious little possession we have, away.

I still believe the problem is backline coach Hawies Fourie and the fact that Naka cannot see that or act on it means he is also a problem.

Think about it. Cheetahs "running rugby" has been on the decline since Hawies took over. The only time we do see a glimmer of the former Cheetah backs are when they need to chase a game and guys like Sarel Pretorius, Riaan Viljoen and Ebersohns start throwing the ball around by taking some iniative and getting creative all on their own.

Anyway. That's what I think. Your thoughts?

I know I am the only Cheetah supporter on Mybb and probably the Internet. And proudly so after three consecutive victories! And convincing victories.

Dammit that was beautiful!

Ashley Johnson was a monster! As was the Ebersohn twins and the rest of the team!

CHEETAHS!!!! CHEETAHS!!!! CHEETAHS!!!!

Yeah. We always knew he was a great talent. He just needed the confidence and game time. And of course his kicking needed some work.

Ashley Johnson was a monster on defence tonight. Sonny Bill Who????
