my Audi TT was 8.75L/100km and my Haval is 6.54 - same routes same times - different vroom vroom

My wife has a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max 390T and the only issues we have experienced thus far...

  • My wife is not happy with the fuel consumption but she moved from an Audi Q3 2.0 TDi DSG which is smaller and the TDi engine is very frugal, to a larger 2.0T Petrol car.
  • My wife had a sporadic issue with the blind spot sensors one day, never happened again.
  • My wife somehow activates the boot door to open while the garage door is closed and an immovable object meets an unstoppable force resulting in some minor scratches.
  • My wife forgot to renew her car licence, got pulled over in a road block and given some sort of ticket, which I still have to figure out as it isn't a ticket.

Forget about all of the above points.
But on that last one, you need a cartrack there mate!! 😁

Been reading about the topic, a spare isn’t a requirement for roadworthy , however, if one is present , it must be in “good condition”
 
Some real world perspective. I've had a Tigpo 7 Exec for just over 2 years.

My driving is 95% or more urban driving. Traffic. Speed humps. Robots. I don't go on a highway for weeks at a time.

Fuel average is 9.5 to 10.5l/100km with the Tiggo. I have retained similar driving conditions over a few vehicles.

Vivo 1.0t GT 8.5l/100/100km
Rav 4 GXR 15.8/100km
Polo AW 1.0t 8.5/100km
Golf 6 GTI 13.5l/100km

All except the Rav were the general average over a year minimum. Rav i sold after 8 months. It was soul less vehicle.

My view is that the consumption isn't bad. It's not amazing but for a vehicle of its size it's fine. It costs me R300 to R500 month extra in fuel than if I had a Polo. Everything in the car works as it should. Normally around 2 years I start getting itchy feet and looking at next car options. Not feeling a need to change yet.

I haven't fortunately been in an accident so can't comment on parts availability. I have seen some bad stories on Chinese parts. A friend has a Jolion and had major delays on parts after an accident.
 
I also don’t quite get the concern about parts delays.

Is it a symptom of people cheaping out on car insurance? If I have a problem with my car the insurance company sends a rental car and I drive that piece of **** until my actual car is fixed.

Which insurer do you use that will gladly give you a rental for months? Chinese car parts take months to be delivered.

I’m yet to see actual evidence of this really happening for any critical part.

Pretty much anything can be gotten within a period of 2 maybe 3 weeks these days if it absolutely has to be imported.

See above. A lot of hearsay but where’s the evidence?

I’ve also had a rental for a month before from the big known brands taking their time to get stuff sorted.
