Panel beaters dont just keep written off cars on their lot for months, they barely have space for cars that are being fixed, so why waste it on a car that is written off? So i know for sure they are waiting for parts else they would be at a salvage yard where written off cars are sent.

You see your story doesn’t make much sense for all the above reasons.

Only cars damaged seriously enough would be staying at the panel beater in the first place.

And that means they are very likely in the claims process awaiting a confirmation from the insurance in repair or write off.

So for all we know parts haven’t even been ordered for them.

You are right, but written off cars dont sit long enough to a point where they look like they are starting to rot at the panel beaters, it doesnt tkae months for cars to get written off by the assesors. Panel beaters dont want to sit on written off cars that they arent going to make money on.

What are you not understanding?

I guess I’m not understanding why you are at the panelbeaters every other week taking inventory.

Maybe your panelbeater is building a Chinese army. Or moonlighting as a scrapyard.
 
SMH = The universal standard for “Shake My Head”. It’s used at times to end/shut down a conversation in a non-aggressive manner

My buddy also doesn’t do acronyms, I’m very much on the other end.

The default is a month - but according to articles, I’ve read they have a large warehouse locally catering for 90% or more of the common parts. Unsure how true it is and wish to never find out.

Oddly I side with you on many points raised here, as well as Sauron

Addressing the thread though, I’m going to echo pretty much everyone when I say the fuel consumption isn’t great at all - and as epah said, that extra R1,000 may spend on fuel could be towards an installment and thus a more expensive car.

I’ve for the CVT box and really don’t find it bad at all. Most the reviews say it’s really well matched the engine.

Loving the technology & warranty though - and price for price, I don’t think much (anything?) will touch it in those areas. Quality for the price is also really good. There are things I miss from my old car - but such is life.

Many ask if I’ll buy again or regret my choice and I pretty much say if things stay the same as they are, I’m happy. There’s the question of longevity and reliability though

Yeah if I need to Google it as a concept then it wasn’t working to begin with.

Acronyms only work in long form if you defined them yourself in your body of work.

SMH is an abbreviation.
NASA, Aids etc are acronyms. They are pronounced as words.

Haval and Chery are popular because they are feature packed and value for.money. get back to you in 5 years
 
Went for my 5000km service the other day, glad to see bill was only R1300, which was billed to the service plan. So services seems be pretty cheap.

Good service overall, just had wait almost 2 weeks to get a booking as they quite busy.
 
Just to add to this. One of my co workers fuel cap wasnt attached to his cherry tiggo SUV at the petrol station and it was left on the roof of his car.

Long story short. He went to purchase a new fuel cap from Cherry and the lead time was 6 weeks.

Ive heard a lot of stories of parts shortages for chinese vehicles and the insane depreciation they suffer.

Not gonna argue about the quality of chinese cars since they seem reliable and built reasonably well. Just the replacement parts and depreciation is killing them in this market.

2 weeks for a service booking is ridiculous.
