China develops own Internet

I guess it was only a matter of time before a "Made in China" label was affixed to te internet...:D

So they built a high speed national backbone based on IPv6, I'd hardly say that qualifies as developing their own internet.

Researchers in the United States, Japan and South Korea are also building IPv6 technologies, which are expected to gain "significant global traction" by 2010, it said.

Great, so a bunch of foreigners are going to rock up in SA for the 2010 World Cup expecting 2.5 gigabytes to 10 gigabytes of information per second, and we're going to give them (at the current rate of change, which seems to double every 2 years) 16 megabits on a 3 gig cap? That's a 1000 times slower (and probably still 1000% more expensive...)!

hrm i wonder if IPv6 is part of Telkom's NGN they planned.

ipv6 = ip version 6?

When I was growing up they referred to ipv6 and ipv4 as the number of bytes in the hostname ip number.

didn't know that there were 5 previous versions of the net :)

Wonder when that will happen in South Afirca, probably in the year 2050. lol.

i bet it make filtering in china way easy...:sick:
