Chiropractor

Why should I waste my breath? Youve already put yourself in a position to deny any explanation and already went on the attack.. confirmation bias in a way as was directed to me however opposite. You made it clear you werent interested in discussing, otherwise the tone of your posts would be different.

Bye bye
So, you don't actually know, and you don't have an answer to why and what your chiro actually does to make you one leg longer? You can drop all the latest social media garbage terms too (confirmation bias) You clearly have not done your homework and in fact, you denying a pragmatic, realistic answer in fact alludes to YOUR confirmation bias. You are convinced it works. Well, sorry, science doesn't agree. Go and look up what science actually is, and what medical science stands for. I never attacked you either. Telling you that you're ignorant isn't an attack. It's a matter of fact. Provide an answer: What does your chiro do, exactly.

Stop talking BS and post the actual science which doesn't agree. You aren't science. Lets see the studies.

OP have you tried just going for a really good massage and RELAXING properly?

More than likely it's all from a source of stress.

Chiros are not radiologists of course they send you off. hahahahahahhahah
Plenty of chiros have xray departments in their offices, same as when you go to dentists that have them as well.

Physio's, orthopods, Gp's and bio's all disagree with you as they have all sent me to a chiro to get better as they can not help.

What happens when your hip goes out is the ball joint that fits into like a cup on the hip is pressed basically to bone on bone. Normally it sits on cartilage and other goo in your body.

This causes intense pain at the hip area, your body doing what it can to protect it self relies more on the other leg, this causes you tendons to literally pull your back out, you are sore from your neck down to your ankles and any pressure on the leg that is out sent chills through your entire body. You also experience your muscles in spasm and you back goes hard, at this point no amount of anti-inflammatory's are going to release your back and your muscles are holding your back like that. You now have to find a way to release all the mess your body has done to itself.

Here's where the chiro comes in.

What the Chiro does to fix this is first try and relieve the muscle in the back by massaging the back, he will then realign your spine which has been pulled out by your muscles and finally adjust the hip so that it sits in the right goo and not on the bone (the cause of the issue).

Hopefully that is layman's enough for you.

They won't see you without an X-ray doesn't matter where or how far it comes from, just because they are setup at a medical institute (nudge nudge) that has an X-ray department now they are thieves (you are seriously scratching at straws).

Sounds like a torn disc in your back, I had a very minor tear on one of mine.

I think chiropractors have their place, but mine does act more as a physio / biokineticist. Back wasn' fix from clicking but he was able to identify the problem and give me recovery tips.

For me it was exercise ball bounces for 5 minutes a day and mckenzie extensions to help rehydrate the disc and lots of rest.

Why do they always need to see an x-ray? If it's muscle damage an x-ray isn't going to show you a lot of that.

It's either a way of making money off of you or just a plain waste of it. X-rays should only be used for things it's good at picking up. A chiro should only send you if he suspected one of those issues, but they won't because they actually are not medical doctors so have no real training.
The only times I've ever gone for x-rays in my life are when I broke my arm, when I suffered an injury to my neck and when they had to confirm my ankle wasn't broken. Even when I had a sore back, I went to a GP, they checked what they could, prescribed anti-inflammatories if those didn't work to go to a specialist, they also said I should try just relax. Not one x-ray, if I'd gone to a chiro it would've been x-rays of my entire spine just in case, and problem a few different shots of it.

A physio can do the same thing?

It wouldn't have been fixed by clicking, as clicking isn't a valid form of anything. It's like when you crack your knuckles and they click. That's all he's doing to your back. Yes they have their place with homeopathy and the other alternative woo.

Also just to add my 2c into this debate, I think for the average person with aches and pains these can be easily resolved by exercises, stretches and lifestyle changes.

However if there is a real issue with you back I feel they can help, this video is an example of that:

But unless there is something as seriously wrong with you spine as this guy, I feel there is limited to no benefit from seeing one, especially if you aren't already making the changes I mentioned above.

Thats my point, the clicking wasn't what did it for me, it was the exercises. But I did still have to go to the guy so he could tell me what exercises to do, but like I mentioned that is more of a role of a physio.

Yup a physio would've been able to tell you that. So it seems chiropractor in SA isn't even governed by the HPCSA which is probably why you don't hear a lot of malpractice and death within it, because it's not governed the same. It instead falls under the AHPCSA the same one that other wackadoo alternatives fall under.

Again posting nonsense. How can you say they have no real training. Do you have any idea of what training they do?

Only two universities in SA have it, UJ and Durban technical university, why not any actual medical school? Because it's not medical it's quackery, why isn't it apart of the HPCSA? Because it's quackery, why aren't they labelled as medical doctors? Once again...

Hi, been suffering with lower back pain, side of my back going down into my leg, for ages now, at a point now where the constant pain is getting to me. Been to a physio without any improvement. Also been for xrays and all looks normal. I am now playing with the idea of going to a chiropractor to see if they can help.

Any recommendations of a good one in Cape Town? Preferably Century City or Northern areas.

Non of this discredits it like you think. I don't care if it's registered with the SPCA as long as it works it works. Are you now trying to claim UJ isn't a legitimate university? That's a joke.

Ive got a hip alignment issue, partly due to many factors and well I dont have time to be a fitness addict unfortunately. My one leg is slightly shorter than the other as a result and chiro corrects this for me.
so he makes both your leg even by the treatment? I didn't think it was possible.

Chiropractor sessions coupled with homeopathy consultations would help both the practitioners. In my honest opinion.
