What's the fundamental difference between them?
How do the Pixie, U, Citiz and Essenza really differ?

I refer specifically to the machine and not the frother attachment / capabilities.
I also refer to major differences and not minor differences (e.g. 0.8L vs 1.0L water tank is a minor difference).

I see there are differences in some of the pressure pump ratings, but what does that actually mean in terms of my final coffee?

We have one in the office. If you want to use larger cups (coffee mugs), make sure they will fit with the machine. The entry level one does not allow for enough height to fit a larger up (between the stand and the part where the coffee comes out - whatever it is called :) ).

Apart from that I do not think there is much of a difference, but wait for the experts give advice as well.

Which is the entry level one?

We have a U with a bundled Aerochino 3 and it does everything :)
That seems to be the newest one... Are you really happy with it?

we have the U, it is the cheapest model (I think) barring the Essenza. However it looks better and the drip tray is removable so you can use a large cup easily.

Had the Citiz for over a year now. Used on a daily basis and still going strong. Not a big fan of the newer models, seem to look less sturdy/cheaper.

Highly recommend it.

Volluto

Saw this machine advertised.

Anyone got it?
Or has anyone tried it?

For those that can't see the image, it's a
Sienna Singe serving capsule espresso maker. 19 bar pressure pump, programmable & automatic volume control of coffee

Generally the different ranges support making different sizes and therefore different drinks.

I can't remember which is which but one of them only makes Espresso's and only takes espresso size cups.

While some of the others will take larger cups or glasses even and can make Lungo's and Latte's etc.

Then you get the Citiz like might which comes with the stand-alone frother and then you get the newest machine that will make the entire Cappucino for you and you simply add water and milk in a separate container.

Do yourself a favour and just go to the Nespresso shop and get a free coffee sample and they'll show you the differences between all the machines.

You can lift up the drip tray and insert a large cup. I have the Pixie and a seperate frother.

The only problem is you are stuck with Nescafe range of coffees.

Checker's has compatible capsules. But Nespresso's range is large enough already.

Lately however, I've been brewing Starbucks and occasionally importing Starbucks VIA Instant.

I have one of these, as rpm says, the cup size is important in your decision making..

I have a separate frother, but tend to not use it.
I just heat a little milk in the microwave.

The coffee from any of the machine tastes the same.

If you need mugs, these 200ml Le Creuset mugs are a good size for a Lungo with milk.

That's the Pixie. The bottom lifts up and you can insert a huge cup if you want.

I see you linked Hirsch.
The advantage of buying from the Waterfront store is that you get free lifetime coffee whenever you pass by. If you pass by regularly that's a bonus. :)

I have the CitiZ, the SO bought that specific model because it looks sexy. I dont like the look of the latest model Latissima

In retrospect as much as I like Nespresso, i would rather have bought a good self grind Cappucino machine
