Honestly I doubt any actor could replace Harrison Ford but there is nothing in the character that, in an alternate universe, makes him unsuited to be played by a black actor.

Yes, and you claiming only insane people would want to see a black Indy is yours. And no, I have no desire to see anyone else play Indy. What I am suggesting is that he is a fictional character and there is nothing inherently "white" about him, his race is a non-issue, he was brough to life by Harrison Ford who happens to be white but there is nothing in the way Indiana Jones was written that might exclude a black actor.

Obvious attempt at some kind of reward in Hollywood for sucking up to people who rate films based on inclusivity over anything else.

If the casting is as predicted the film will flop and the audience will be blamed for being bigots.

Too many red flags with this Nolan effort - the result of too much creative license. And yet Oppenheimer wasn't mired in controversy because he respected the source material.

Just because its myth it doesn't mean he should race/gender swop especially if you're not willing to be consistent.

Would he make a movie about African ancestral myths but decide to cast white people?
And where do you draw the line. Even historical figures have fictional elements which we believe to be true.
Shaka Zulu may have been a white Englishman raised by Zulus?

Helen isnt the main character though, seems like people are looking for reasons to be outraged.

Weirdly enough, the only time this has been done to historical figures in the past is when historical figures of other races had white people cast... a noted example being John Wayne as Genghis Khan.

Apparently wasn't a problem when they cast Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Sean Bean, Brian Cox, Orlando Bloom and Brendan Gleeson as Greek characters. Funny that. :sneaky:

Your preference is your own so whatever, but you're still not getting the distinction. There's nothing inherent to Indy Jones as a character where his race is important. With the Fresh Prince there obviously is!

The more revealing thing here is that you think casting a non-white actor in a role where race is irrelevant "destroys" something. Why do you not apply that to the casting of American or Scottish actors to play Greeks? Or casting someone who's Slovak/Irish to play a Palestinian Jew?

Do you really think casting Denzel Washington as Hamlet or Othello destroyed those films and broadway productions?
