So it is the time of year when we entertain a lot more. This is the only time of year I go all out and make a good dessert. It happens once in 12 months so I make it good :o

Last year i made this:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/red-berry-trifle-recipe/index.html

Firstly I hate The traditional south african Trifle, that gross jelly and canned fruit that is all slimy in your mouth... this is not a trifle like that, It was a big hit. :) I made everybody their own container with a big red bow on it :)

Cannot agree with you more, I hate trifle too

I recommend a peppermint tart or chocolate brownie mouse pudding :)
Also a fruity tart is good for the summer vibes

Cool idea above!!!

its cheaper to buy from woolies than to use that creations mix to make it

Those creations mixtures are crap. It'll take you 2 minutes longer to measure, sift and mix the same ingredients yourself and work out half the price.

you skipped the burning down the kitchen part :p :o

That is why i only do it once a year. Then I'm focused and camp out in the kitchen..:D No forgetting about the stuff in the oven :D :D

If they want something fancy they can make it themselves!

Home made creme caramel.

Its not the easiest to get it nice and smooth and the caramel to melt properly but it is tasty.

We did a layered choc cake for our traditional friends pre-xmas dinner
choc chip biscuit layer, dark chocolate tart layer (thick and dense and rich), then thin layer of cherry jelly to add a different texture, then a moist choc liqueur cake (with kahlua), topped off with choc glaze (milk choc)
Sprinkled with icing sugar, fresh raspberries and a warm berry coulis on the side, served with thick cream...

can only have teeny tiny slices because its so rich...

Fiance also hates trifle which I can't understand for the life of me...

You can make a no bake Nutella cheesecake. It's extremely easy, just a few ingredients needed. You can google the recipe.

I also have a very nice mocha dessert recipe that I can post. It includes biscuits, nuts and whispers. The ingredients are a little expensive though

Ohhhh!!!! Thank you. That would be great. I do it once a year so I can splash out a bit. :)

My no fail, no cook, 5 minute, easy dessert is definitely an Eton Mess - always a hit and you can literally make it at the last second.
